Cool. That will definitely solve the water shortages and extreme weather. You’ll totally be immune from those.

And then there will be all the refugees coming from other places, demanding to be let into your somehow safe from climate change refuge.

I guess if you machine gun them all down at the border, you’ll be fine.

      Desalination? Indoor and outdoor cooling?

The solutions already exist and we have been using them for years. The only thing that holding us back is not enough cheap energy since the US in the past didn’t allow us to mine and enrich our uranium but this could change with the help of China.

And then there will be all the refugees coming from other places, demanding to be let into your somehow safe from climate change refuge.

Saudi Arabia is already over 40% foreigners, we will manage to accommodate them somehow, or not, no way to know.

I guess if you machine gun them all down at the border, you’ll be fine.

      What’s up with your eco-fascism?

Are you actually claiming Saudi Arabia is going to survive climate change? Hilarious.

It is an engineering and energy problem. And yes, as long as the power plants don’t go offline. I know you want to see our demise, but we will linger on, I’m not worried.

If you know that I want to see your demise, you can provide evidence for it. Please do so.

Yes, because the major world and regional powers are just going to sit still and die when the see your country has a bunch of things they need to survive. They totally won’t invent a pretext to invade and secure those resources – that’s never happened, particularly in the middle east.

I’m sure Saudi Arabia will be able to defend itself from multiple attackers fighting for their very survival. Brilliant plan.

I love that their response to the issues with their claim that Saudi Arabia will be fucked like everywhere else is: if we build a bunch of nuclear reactors and invent an outdoor air conditioner that works in a bunch of desert cities, there will be no issues that Saudi Arabia can’t overcome when it comes to climate change.

I especially love their other claim that since 40% of their country’s population are immigrants, they can handle an influx of who knows how many more millions at their borders.

Good thing climate change isn’t already causing huge problems in Saudi Arabia.

That’s a solvable problem. Saudi Arabia is building solar and wind power plants in many other countries too. And if we had nuclear technology we probably would have built nuclear power plants too for other countries.

I don’t see why people are jumping to eco-fascism when there is still plenty of clean and cheap energy to be utilized.

Not really, the data shows it’s fairly dry most of the time, especially during jun-jul with RH going as low as 40% and as high as 75%. Compare that to something like Istanbul or Pattaya where it practically never goes below 75% and such system would just spray water directly onto the ground where it’s going to stay as a puddle and never dry up.

The outdoor air conditioner in Doha doesn’t spray water, just cold air

Pretty sure those are just normal misting fans in the first comment that I’ve responded to. Those just dump water in the air which causes perceived coolness as evaporation causes significant cooling.

To blow “just cold air”, the only remaining options are either chemical, which is definitely not renewable at all, or by placing a cold radiator behind a fan. But then the question comes up where are you gonna take the coldness from? This is basically the same question as where are you going to dump the heat to? Surely, you can hook up an AC and use geothermal shenanigans to dump it under the ground, but that’d still be massively wasteful and the only way to get the ridiculous amount of energy for it at scale is from non-renewables, which would hasten the climate change even further.
