  • As I very clearly wrote, progress was fast in the 70’s, and ideals about peace, democracy and human rights were on the rise.
Progress being fast, clearly means things were better late 70’s than early 70’s.
I also never claimed things were only sunshine and rainbows, only that things got better.
You write like someone who did not experience the 70’s, and is completely ignorant about the mentality of the 70’s compared to the pragmatism that was before and came back very quickly after.
I absolutely agree that after WW2 USA took a new role upon themselves, to act as global police, and they clearly got drunk on their own power.
But there’s a huge difference between the progress of the 70’s, and the insane armament and undermining of workers unions, the poor and even democracy that Reagan began in the 80’s. And the normalization in the White house of illegal practices with the Iran Contra, that had zero consequences for the administration.

  • Starmer had issued his strongest rebuke yet of Trump’s action in Iran, saying the UK did not believe in “regime change from the skies”

Fuck yes. I had a bad feeling when USA was allowed to use UK bases in the region for “defense”.
But it turns out he was actually serious. Hurray for that, let USA fix their own mess for once.

We all remember the mistakes of Iraq, and we have learned those lessons. Any UK actions must always have a lawful basis,

Absolutely fucking YES! to this too. We don’t need to repeat of the illegal invasion of Iraq based on false US intelligence.
Apart from that Trump didn’t even try to make a case for plausible deniability.

I’m not from UK, when I say we, I mean Europe and NATO. The British can be proud of their PM today. 👍 😀

  • I agree Russia is out of resources, and can’t afford to “waste” any.
Still if Iran was still an important supplier as you claimed earlier, taking down a few Israeli missiles would go a long way to make Trump reconsider, and possibly to create more opposition in USA against the war.
I maintain that Putin actually wants this to help the struggling Russian economy. And if Putin didn’t want it, he could have stopped Trump with a phone call.

  • I think he was, I still think the Steel dossier was correct, that Putin has something on Trump, that he cannot allow to be revealed.
Since we know Epstein worked for Russia, the most obvious suspicion is that Putin has tapes with Trump being “together” with minors.
Trump has most certainly been acting that way for many years now. Including his entire first term presidency, and also the past year withdrawing all aid from Ukraine. Clearly against traditional American interests, and interests of many USA allies.
