If you are already doing Jellyfin, you can sync as much or little to your phone as you want. Just use finamp. It’s a very nice player for Android that connects to your Jellyfin and allows you to download any synced music on the go or stream it directly.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Can anyone recommend any good science communicators for a 12 year old girl?
5·23 hours agoYeah, she has faced a lot of criticism in the last few years; some of it undeserved, some entirely deserved.

261·1 day agoSince I didn’t see many creators who are women, here are a few recommendations:
The Space Gal (Emily Calandrelli)
Emily the Engineer (content can be pretty rough - profanity and simulated danger)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Fediverse instances would you recommend to others?
5·3 days agoIt basically works like that on Mastodon, but on Lemmy, etc. you will see most of the content of all federated instances.
It’s common for new users to overthink the choice of instance - it doesn’t make a huge difference for most users and you can always switch if you find a better fit in the future.
You can pick one that is local to your country/region, or if you have a special interest like art or environmental activism, you may be able to find one that specializes in that. Otherwise choose any instance that is stable.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it better to follow your parents footsteps and help them with their thriving small bussiness, but you have to deal with toxicity, or trying going your own way and risk homelessness?
5·9 days agoSounds like a good situation to connect with a therapist or coach. Talk to someone outside the family who can help you formulate a strategy.
It’s not all or nothing, and it’s not a forever problem. You can use the family business to launch into something more stable and healthy in a few years. Whether that’s education or career planning or just building a financial parachute, I promise you can start taking steps now that will leave you in a better place in the future.
You are a survivor.
Literally the things that are important to you. What do you talk about with friends? Most of those topics are a good start.
Fun fact: Monday is the only day in the Genesis narrative that is not described as “it was good.”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What technologies are constant failures but we can't stop trying to make work?
3·9 days agoCould be, although we’ve had a few psychopaths in charge of world-ending nuclear arsenals and avoided the worst of it for now.

5·9 days agoHow thriving? Is it just summer home thriving, or is it private jet thriving?
How toxic? Is it just criticizing your significant other toxic, or give away your dog to punish you toxic?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In your opinion, what is the most convenient Lemmy web interface on a phone?
3·9 days agoI like Tesseract. Photon and Alexandrite are also great (although Alexandrite is a bit out of date, but I haven’t had any issues). Also check out Quiblr maybe. It has a very different feel.

For the record, I do agree. It’s worth occasionally thinking about the limits of communication, but it is the foundational technology of civilization.
All language is a fundamentally incomprehensible illusion of communication, and people have thought that for a while.
Makes for some banger songs though.
Zhuangzhi wrote about it well over 2000 years ago.

Work.
Working people can’t take off time to vote. Poor people can’t take off time to vote. Students, teachers, can’t take off time to vote. So in-person voting favors retirees, wealthy people, and business owners like farmers who can set their own hours.
