Computer version of dude wincing through the pain, tears in eyes, giving you a thumbs up.
The “barely got mine and defending it” thing really sticks in other ways too.
When I wanted aid for school “sorry, we ran out. Should have gotten here earlier.”
When I wanted to get food stamps “sorry, you don’t meet the qualifications on a technicality.”
When I finally got Medicaid but couldn’t use it “not enough spots for you to be seen, sorry.”
Many times the administrators that gave me this news implied it was because too many people asked for it. Being young and stupid (and let’s face it, indoctrinated), it made me put the blame on the other people asking for aid. If there were less people that asked for aid, I wouldn’t be starving and sick. I thought that I was more worthy of the aid because some people are cheating the system and I deeply resented them.
Fortunately I grew the hell up and pulled my head out of my ass. It’s all a distraction we get fed from the news that other needy people are the reason why we suffer. It’s so hard to fathom how much the rich actually waste when all we see is our fellow working class folk.
They can come to my place.
Essential oils will not cure diseases or anything, but they are great for making things smell nice. I would give using these in a dryer ball a pass.
One of the few things I thought that Maddox (“The Best Page in the Universe”) got right was his viewpoint on ads. He refused to run them because he didn’t want to have to censor himself to not offend the advertisers.
I wish this font worked for me. I think my brain is defective.
I all of the sudden have a great idea for a vaporizer…
For real though, I liked the way the Aeron kind of “forced” good posture. Not enough to buy one for myself, but enough when I had one at a previous job.
It got weird after COVID. Of the stuff I sold, a lot of people would ask if I could deliver. Even for small items, and far more often than they would before the pandemic. Of the stuff I buy, people would ask if I wanted it delivered. I understood for large items like couches. It made no sense for stuff like DVDs. (Porch pick up or neutral location for me always.)
So I just offer it right out the gate now. If they’re “selling” something and it’s a scam, it filters them out. If I’m buying something, it lets them know I’m not going to ask them to jump through hoops.
When I get back to my personal computer, I’m going to finally move to Linux. I’m a developer primarily on Microsoft technologies, but I’m willing to see if there is a way for me to work on Linux and branch out to other tech.
Meanwhile, you ask a question or two about it (size, smoke free home, anything else not answered in the ad) or even say “When is a good time to look at/pick this up? Will pay cash.”
Crickets. Online classifieds are a lot more frustrating than they used to be.
Not sure if they already sold it (and still left the ad up) or if it is a scam and they don’t reply because my offer (see in person, handle pickup myself).
Same, lots of great people and a nice community. As a whole, they’re very accepting folks too and have no problems with the respectful non-furs.
Very true. However, that fact didn’t stop them from taking away my apple core.
I ate the core at school but the teachers made me stop because “the seeds are poisonous!”
Finally, something achievable.
I made this mistake with a stink bug when it was winter. It was ok with being on the piece of paper I had it on. When I opened the door and the cold air hit it, it backed away towards me. I set it down and it stopped moving. Oops. :(
It really doesn’t. I also dislike the fact it can be more difficult to find some parts for older cars too, so even if you wanted to salvage, it may not be viable.
Who needs therapy when you can foist off all of your emotional needs on one person?
