Am I the only one who finds it a bit gross that there’s a Spotify ad right in the awards list? “BEST SCORE AND MUSIC, LEVELED UP BY SPOTIFY”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the highest level of mathematics that should be expected to graduate high school?English
3·11 days agoIt’s certainly possible to make it easier to understand and relatable, but I’m just saying that as far as useful things to know for all students, I think calculus is at the bottom of the list. On the other hand, nearly every single person will encounter some sort of statistics in their daily lives, and it is important to know how to interpret them.

111·12 days agoI don’t think rates of change or approaching a limit are things that an average person would find useful. I do think that some sort of statistics should be a requirement though, especially applied statistics.

15·12 days agoIt is possible to acknowledge that a billionaire is doing a good thing with his ungodly wealth, while also saying that he should not have that level of wealth to begin with.
“This shit is confusing af, no cap”, said one senior scientist.

3·14 days agoIs there something about linkedin and zoom I should be concerned about? I saw them mention that they deleted their linked in and are wary of zoom. I was not aware of any issues with those at all.

18·15 days agoI honestly did not know how old Danson was until you said that. I would have pegged him at mid 60s at the oldest, I would not have guess pushing 80.

91·15 days agoIt’s going to be more than an Xbox, but not too crazy. Probably $800 is my guess.
Is that not unique in the entire world of amphibians? I was under the impression all amphibians laid eggs.
Is this saying that these species give birth to live babies, as opposed to laying eggs?

1·20 days agoInteresting stuff, thanks for sharing! Definitely concerning, especially the openAI stuff. I guess I will take a look at grapheneOS again, but I just hate the idea that I need to buy a google product in order to use it.

6·20 days agoI’m currently OS shopping, and saw a video of a PikaOS install that looked extremely easy and painless. The fact that it prompts you to install the “gaming meta” packages right up front is clutch. I think I might give that a go as my first install.
Highlights the idiocy of dividing people up by generation, they just totally skipped Gen X, because there was no neat little stereotype they could come up with.

I usually just end up closing steam and going back to doomscrolling Lemmy/YouTube.
