I’ll be honest at this point in my life anthing that pops up it gets a 1 simply for annoying me.

I’m never randomly recommending anything unless asked and if I do when asked specifically about it the app owners sure as shit don’t need to know about it

I think it’s the fact that 3rd box rarely exists that has gotten me this way

Honestly all the app owners need to know is why a customer is dissatisfied. If the app is actually good the recommendations will come naturally.

I don’t disagree but when I get asked to give it a rating 2 mins after installing they can fick right off.

Thanks to bots and shills ratings mean nothing.

In most cases I just stop using something as its not as useful as i thought or just boring bugging me in this manner just makes me actively hate it.

Well yeah that’s why the only sensible place for such a survey is in the uninstaller (no popup browser tab please) with a big fat “Skip” option. Let’s people with actual feedback give that feedback while people who don’t want to can skip. Corpo can then evaluate if the product lands well by the rate of installed/uninstalled/left feedback.

But yeah modern day surveys are absolute garbage and annoying in like 99/100 cases

In the modern age it seems sensible has gone right out the window. It almost feels like it’s your fault you hate their product rather than it being shit.

Information has lost all value and I just don’t want to play anymore

It’s annoying when I start some software to get something done and it’s asking me to do a survey. I’m in the middle of something! What’s wrong with you?!

This even funnier now that they’ve come full circle to shutting down Windows 10 - Our Last Operating System!

It’s been a hot minute since I ran SuSE (before it was OpenSuSE) but since I’m distrohopping lately I might have to give it a go.

I let a friend try out Linux after I’ve been using it for years and they were shocked how much easier some things are. I think the idea of throwing them into a like Windows distro is the wrong direction. I’m ready POP OS’s new desktop whenever it comes out.

I have recently started using KDE and so far i like it after years of XFCE on slower pc. And every now and then I think about switching to some debian based distro but AUR spoiled me and now I am too lazy. Its great that with my setuo I can change distros and have working OS in under an hour with all my software already setup.

You guys should try Kali Linux with KDE Plasma. I’m really enjoying it. It’s so easily customizable.

I feel called out here lol. Granted, I’ve only recommended it to people I know who complained about the performance of windows. Linux is so much more optimised

Causally recommending linux and shutting down inane tech support questions aren’t the same thing. If I get asked: “X feature stopped working in the newest macOS. What do I do?” I tell them the truth: “I switched to linux to get the feature back.”

This answer is stupid. I don’t think it’s unusual for a non-tech savvy friend who heard about Linux to ask for an opinion.

I think it is unusual. As a software engineer who has a large circle of friends, loads of them know I use Linux, but literally no one cares or is curious about knowing more. And honestly I’m not interested in explaining. We talk about and do other things lol. I sometimes talk about differences and news about both with those who have jobs or interests closer to the IT business, and we have a short conversation about those news, but nobody asks me about Linux, and especially not Windows. It’s not interesting.
