Because it is quite hard, especially to get momentum going and OP should be proud of the achievement.

I was never fat or overweight, but i can’t even imagine how hard it has to be. I’m always so happy when i see people drop weight. But with my friends it’s more the other way around, everyone seems to get bigger and bigger.

Funny thing is, it can be hard to know you are. What you see everyday is just ‘normal’ rather than over or underweight. I’m 6’ + and at one point scraped near 300, but didn’t notice anything off until I got to needing a 40" waist for jeans and noticing being a bit tired going over a small hill to the office. Self perception is sneaky like that. Never was the giant size that some get to, but even then I might expect similar ‘this is normal’ might apply.

Especially when you are just getting started, because you lose like 2kgs in a a week and then plateau, and nothing works unless you really try optimizing your diet and activity and start accurately tracking calories and judging how much you eat, which takes practice, probably not an issue if you are extremely overweight but for someone like me who was at the BMI of 26 with very low muscle, you really need to optimize, especially as you start slimming down, it took me 8months to lose 16kgs, now I am pretty sure I could do it in 3 months
