I rely on shitty thumbnails though to let me know if a youtuber isn’t worth my time.
Yeah clickbait titles and obnoxious thumbnails generally let me know which channels to avoid. I’d hate to accidentally stumble across shitty videos by obscuring their obnoxiousness in the preview.
I’m using social media less and less because of this. It feels like I’m just browsing ads. When everything tries to grab your attention, nothing does.
Everything is hyperoptimized for monetization so browsing something like Lemmy or Mastodon is a breath of fresh air.
That looks so much nicer
It doesn’t just look nicer, the titles became so much more informative.
I’d like to see a service that scans YouTube thumbnails for people overacting surprised with their mouth agape, and uses the power of A.I trained with hours of porn to edit huge dicks into every open mouth.
Same guy that makes SponsorBlock, so there’s a decent chance this will have an API and could be worked into YouTube Revanced like SponsorBlock is.
No extension can fix the fact that corporate social media is extremely unhealthy and toxic, and that we are all better off just not engaging with that trash.
Cool idea. Can you update it to remove thumbnails with those shitty surprised/shocked faces?
Would be nice to have this in!newpipe@lemmy.ml
This extension is paywalled! It costs money, and asks for payment when you first open it.
