The ban will be in effect for six months, and some bars will be required to close by 1 a.m. for the next month, according to a statement from the mayor’s office.

The mayor of Medellín, the second-largest city in Colombia, announced Monday a temporary ban on prostitution in two of its neighborhoods, days after an American tourist was discovered in a hotel room with two underage girls, according to The Associated Press.

Mayor Federico Gutiérrez said the ban would affect Provenza and El Poblado, popular destinations for international tourists and local sex workers, and he cited concerns about sex trafficking involving minors.

The ban will be in place for six months, and bars in Lleras Park will be required to close by no later than 1 a.m. over the month of April, according to a statement from the mayor’s office released Monday.

If you have the evidence against Biden, present it.

        Here’s some for Trump:

On October 25, 2016, allegations were made by two men stating that Trump had attended and partaken in sex parties filled with underage minor females as young as 15 years old who were induced with promises of career advancement.[151] Illegal drugs were also alleged to have been provided to the minors.[152]

One man was identified as model and actor Andy Lucchesi, while the other was identified as a fashion photographer who spoke on condition of anonymity. Both men claim to have been acquaintances of Trump during that decade, which one described as his “Trump days”.[151]

Lucchesi, for his part, claimed that he saw Trump engage in sexual activity with the girls but did not witness him taking illicit drugs. In regards to the age of the girls, Lucchesi said he himself never specifically asked about their ages, only remarking of the attendees “a lot of girls, [aged] 14, look 24.”[153]

Tangentally related- British comedian and presenter Sue Perkins did a series called Perfectly Legal (it’s on Netflix in the US, I’m sure it can also be acquired via the high seas) and she spends a lot of one of the episodes hanging out with some queer Colombian sex workers- adults though. It’s a very entertaining and enlightening view of a country many people in the English-speaking world are unfamiliar with, and the rest of the series shows similar unusual parts of other Latin American countries.

I don’t believe she was in Medellin specifically, but it will still give a glimpse inside the lives of Colombian sex workers. I tried to find an image of the people she was with, but I can’t find them. There was a spectacular older trans woman with ridiculously huge fake breasts that the others thought of as a grandmother and she was awesome.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The mayor of Medellín, the second-largest city in Colombia, announced Monday a temporary ban on prostitution in two of its neighborhoods, days after an American tourist was discovered in a hotel room with two underage girls, according to The Associated Press.

Mayor Federico Gutiérrez said the ban would affect Provenza and El Poblado, popular destinations for international tourists and local sex workers, and he cited concerns about sex trafficking involving minors.

The latest actions “strengthen the measures against sexual and commercial exploitation, especially of girls, boys and adolescents, in areas affected by this crime,” according to the statement.

It also states that the mayor’s office plans to meet with hotel, restaurant and bar owners “to establish rules around the issue.”

At a news conference on Monday, Gutierrez said, “We have to recover control of this area — it is also very important for us to protect the community.”

Sex work that is conducted between two consenting adults is not illegal in Colombia, but local governments reserve the right to impose temporary bans on the activity if they pose a threat to public order, according to AP, which also reported that the 36-year-old American tourist was held in police custody and then released.

Prostitution is legal in Colombia and sex workers have rights. Don’t be a puritan.

Because most sex workers are grown ass adults and should have the right to do what they want with their own bodies without getting arrested for it? Not everywhere is as backwards as the USA.

What they should really do is permanently ban US tourists from it. /s
