    we hate

“We” don’t. I fucking love it. If I could drink significantly more without disrupting sleep, I would.

Your body adapts to bitterness. But most importantly, there’s a difference between buying good coffee, grinding and preparing it how you like it, versus buying 8 month old burnt pieces of leaves and some coffee from Walmart and shoving sugar with vegetable oil on top.

It doesn’t even need to be expensive or special coffee - just give slightly more mental effort to a drink you consume everyday.

Less than a year ago I drank tea exclusively.

I started with ground Dunkin’ Donuts Original because that’s what my wife drank. I didn’t like it, but if I added Torani syrup to it, it was actually pretty good. It became my morning coffee.

Then, still with ground coffee, my wife said she liked Krispy Kreme coffee better but they don’t sell it in stores. I found it on Amazon and it was indeed better.

Then, I was like, “Well…we have a grinder…let’s use it.” So, I bought Dunkin’ Donuts Original whole bean at the store. It tasted significantly better than Krispy Kreme! Even my wife agreed. I could tell grinding the beans at home was a game changer.

Then I went to Hawaii. For a week straight, I drank pretty crappy coffee with a bit of cream. It gave me that bitter flavor that I’d come to love, but it wasn’t satisfying in the way that I knew coffee could be. I guess was preparing myself for heaven by going through hell? Idk. But we found a coffee in Kona that is so good I can make a whole pot and drink it black. When I first tasted it at home, I understood in my bones why people enjoy a morning cup of coffee.

So yeah, huge difference between buying good coffee and preparing it how you like it versus that other crap.

when conditions are perfect (which I achieve less than half the time) a proper espresso macchiatto can smell and taste like you are drinking chocolate.

I have had some coffee (blue bottle in the bay area in 2010, specifically) that smelled so much like shit I was worried they were literally putting shit into my cup. I learned after looking into it that there is some molecule that is present in both coffee and shit and apparently their process was really empasizing that molecule at the time.

I found an independent coffee shop that roasts beans in small batches there in the store. Even if all you’re gonna do is drip, that alone is enough.

But pour over hits the balance between amazing and convenient

Amusingly, their cappuccinos cost less than at Starbucks…

I hate the taste of coffee so I don’t drink it. Why are you drinking something you don’t like?

I eat guacamole and avocados every now and then even though I don’t like either. I think it’s important to repeatedly try things that I otherwise don’t like. It’s how I’ve come to love blue cheese and coffee.

The taste of coffee varies a lot. Instant coffee tastes bad to me, but grinding my own coffee beans and making it fresh with a little bit of cream is amazing.

I happily drink instant coffee. I even prefer it to something like Starbucks coffee.

    Who is we ?

I agree, there is tons of badly made coffee like the automatic vending machinc, or the Americanfast food burning hot coffee served in half a litre buckets.

But a decent blend done with an expresso machine or at least a moka machinc would be delicious

I thought you meant the taste of roasted beans. Turns out you actually meant coffee. I don’t understand why you drink something you hate

I like a good coffee, can taste wonderfully.

However, a bad coffee is just pure liquid shit.
