  • Defenestration
    Notable autodefenestrations:

On July 9, 1993, the prominent Toronto attorney Garry Hoy fell from a 24th story window in an attempt to demonstrate to a group of new legal interns that the windows of the city’s Toronto-Dominion Centre were unbreakable. He performed the same stunt on several previous occasions – dramatically slamming his body against the window – but this time it popped out of its frame and he fell to his death. The accident was commemorated by a 1996 Darwin Award and has been re-enacted in several films and television shows.

But introversion just means that talking decreases someone’s energy. Does it also mean that introverts don’t want to talk with others about topics that interest them? I thought, that this isn’t the case.

PS: Yes I get it. It’s meant to be paradox/ absurd by contrasting the two contradictory statements with each other. :)

Putting on our moon armour could solve a lot of problems. It’s not my most favourite solution though.

    PS: Gonggong?!
Edit: dwarf planet. Discovered in 2007 and named after a god in the chinese mythology:

Gonggong was ashamed that he lost the fight with Zhurong, the Chinese god of fire, to claim the throne of Heaven. In a fit of rage, he smashed his head against Buzhou Mountain, one of eight pillars holding up the sky, greatly damaging it and causing the sky to tilt towards the northwest and the Earth to shift to the southeast, which caused great floods and suffering.

Not an exact match but good enough: Hagen Rether about spinal cord racism

Sorry, I’m not able to find a good English transcription. Basically what he says is: Fear of the foreign, the fear of the others outside of our group is imprinted into our reptile brain. It may have been an evolutionary advantage back then to keep your tribe together and your gene pool alive. And it’s still in all of us.
If you act on this, you just show a lack of culture and education. It’s normal to know that fear/ that impulse but then the thought: Wait a moment, that’s my spinal cord talking, I should use my neo cortex has to show up. It’s important to take that step.

Or we could try to be more civilized.

It’s easy for someone who isn’t a victim of a capital or war crime to say, that the death penalty should be ostracized.

That makes my respect for Robert Badinter even greater:

His father was captured in the 1943 Rue Sainte-Catherine Roundup and deported with other Jews to the Sobibor extermination camp, where he was murdered shortly thereafter.

Robert Badinter (French pronunciation: [ʁɔbɛʁ badɛ̃tɛʁ]; 30 March 1928 – 9 February 2024) was a French lawyer, politician, and author who enacted the abolition of the death penalty in France in 1981.

I know this is a polarising topic. So I don’t expect you to agree with me on this. The other way around… same. So let’s just look at it as exchange of point of views. You show me your heroes, I show you mine.

  • You seem ambivalent about the topic. I understand your arguments, but I don’t agree with your solution. That doesn’t need to bother you. We probably have very different requirements for transportation.

I live in an area where I don’t need a car to get where I want to - bike, bus and train are sufficient. And I don’t normally need to transport so much that I need a car. And if I need a car I get a rental for a short time.

Sometimes I shake my head a little in disbelief because I find the trend towards more individual transportation within large cars concerning. But then again my lifestyle isn’t for everyone and who am I to judge? (But I’m entitled to my own opinion. ;)
