Why’d the cookie go to the hospital?
He was feeling crummy!
What’d the envelope say to the stamp?
Stick with me, kid, we’ll go places.

DNC Leadership: Is “left” your people’s way of saying “status quo?”
If they just flagrantly broke the law and kept doing it until the SCOTUS and others actually stopped them, the dems would be far more popular than just throwing their hands up and saying "better things aren’t possible.
This is basically what FDR did with a lot of his social and work programs during his presidency. He’d establish an agency or authority or whatever, regardless of the legality, and by the time the court’s or whoever made the decision to close it, they’d have 5 others going simultaneously, and/or they’d make another one. And the process would start all over again.
What the fuck happened?
Four years of a milquetoast, centrist Democrat telling the American people what they’re living isn’t the actual reality of the situation. Biden’s admin kept rolling out the “soft landing, economy is doing great,” schtick despite numerous news outlets reporting Americans don’t feel like it’s an economy working for them.
Then that Democrat finally stepping aside, too late for his constituents to have a say in who they want representing them. And then she ran on a centrist, return-to-the-status-quo platform that didn’t inspire the majority of Americans, who are so apathetic based on decades of being ignored by politicians they just don’t vote. Because what’s the point?
Only thing I’ll disagree with you here is the machinist comment. My dad’s been a machinist for like 45 years now, same industry, same building.
He is constantly complaining to me that they can’t find machinists, or even people who are willing to learn. I have zero machining experience, and he was trying to get me hired at one point, that’s how desperate they were getting.
And it’s not a bad company, to be clear, they’re a government contractor, have very good benefits, competitive pay (he’s even complained they’ve given guys with a year’s experience multi-dollar raises to keep them), etc.
According to him, if you have mechanical aptitude and are willing to learn all of the intricacies of machining, you can and will make a decent salary for the rest of your life so long as you’re willing to work.
Yeah, he voices Gus and Jimmy Jr, just to name two off the top of my head, as well as Bob.
My dog has to smell my breath after I eat/drink something. If I’m eating a sandwich, he’ll watch the whole time, and when I’m done, he’ll hop up and start sniffing/licking for crumbs.
Then he’ll stand on my lap, and put his nose up to my face, sniffing and kinda wagging his tail. I’ll open my mouth wide, and start exhaling, and he’ll eagerly start sniffing riiiiiiiiiight up against my mouth, wagging and kinda shifting his weight on his front legs. And if you don’t listen closely enough to his sniffing…
… He’ll sneeze in your mouth. 😂 He makes my friends do it too, and I do warn them about keeping their mouth open too long.
Beyond that, the only other weird thing he does (besides his crazy yoga poses he does in blankets on the couch) is lick the floor. If I’m cooking, he’s standing by the stove, ready to lunge at anything that falls to the floor. But when I’m done cooking, he’ll basically walk the entire kitchen floor, focusing primarily by the sink and stove, licking every speck of oil and crumb he can find. You’d think I never feed him based on how he acts towards food, but here we are. 😂
He nabbed some chili seeds off the floor one night before I could get them, and I asked him how they tasted while he’s walking around the kitchen, licking his chops over and over. Moved to his water bowl, drank a good chunk of that, moved to the living room, laid down there for a bit… All the while, licking his chops, trying to get the spicy to go away. And then he came back for more 😂
No, you’re trying to play it off as the other commenter pointed out, as if it’s just kids will be kids.
You don’t accidentally stab someone to death. This wasn’t a “fuck up,” if you read the article, or even what I wrote in the comment above, you’d see that the kid followed the victim around after they had already tried to disengage from the guy with the knife.
Knife guy sought them out, escalated the situation despite the victim and his group trying to get knife guy to leave them alone, and then stabbed him in the chest.
Where’s the accident in that?
We’re not, the victim lost everything: their future, their life, moments with family, etc. And you’re making it sound like, “Well, yeah, but he just made a mistake.”
You don’t stab someone to death by mistake, it isn’t a “fuck up.” Killing someone via stabbing is an aggressive, personal, close quarters kind of death. You can’t stab someone to death “accidentally,” and during the act, did he ever stop? While the victim was likely shouting in pain or pleading or trying to get away, did the kid stop his “fuck up”?
No. He knew exactly what he was doing, and there’s no rehabilitating that, especially if it occurred after a brief conversation in public. He forfeited his right to his life as soon as he took his victim’s, when he chose to willfully stab a man to death.
Edit: Literally the first sentence details how the two boys had the four-minute conversation with the victim, followed the victim around Birmingham’s city centre, and then stabbed him to death despite the victim being a complete stranger.
And neither boy showed any remorse or emotion during their sentencing. The one who actually stabbed the victim tries to claim he feared for his safety, and was “just trying to scare the boy.” Guess that’s why he needed to plunge a large knife into the kid’s chest when, as the judge pointed out, all they did was try to get Mr. “Just Fucked Up” to leave them alone.
The kid fucked up.
He stabbed someone to death, he didn’t accidentally total his step dad’s Corvette.
The man he killed is never going to go home again, and he’s not going to do anything for the next 70 years. His family will spend every holiday without him, every milestone in their lives passed without him.
Because “the kid fucked up.” 🙄
I attempted to deliver cremated remains once while I was a carrier for USPS. I say “attempted” because you have to have the recipient sign for cremated remains, but they weren’t home…
I’m not sure how I’d describe it, but it’s an odd feeling leaving a “Sorry We Missed You” pink slip for a person versus a package.
Idk if I have ADHD, but I have been diagnosed with depression, and I’ve said this almost verbatim to my therapist several times over the years, including yesterday:
Life is too overwhelming and I’m always burnt-out. Every single day. Even if I’m doing absolutely nothing, I’m tired all the time and never have any motivation ever.
I’m depressed and miserable because society is set up in a way that my brain just doesn’t work with. I’ve dropped out of college twice, and my work history is like a hopscotch board of different employers across various industries. I get burnt out at a job (the workload increases too much, the pay is too low, management ruins it, etc), end up quitting to try another industry, usually taking a pay cut because I physically feel like I’m going to explode if I even step foot in the old job again. Spend indefinite amount of time unemployed before taking some other job I’ll grow to hate and resent in less than 6 months.
Even my current job, I’m probably going to quit this week because I’m so fed up with life I’ve called out for basically three weeks straight. It cost me a raise I needed badly, but the whole time my friends are telling me to do what I need to do to take care of my mental health… But now I can’t pay my bills, and they’ve got overdue and overdraft fees because they’re late because I’m not making enough to keep up.
And I’m just done, I’m tired of it. I’m put on meds so that I’m not an inconvenience or burden to society, that’s it. It doesn’t matter if they fix anything or help, just so long as they make it so I can wake up and go to work and make money for the system that is actively leaving me behind. And I’m expected to be nice and pleasant and shit rainbows and sunshine while suffering day in and day out, because the idea of death makes people uncomfortable, because the idea that life isn’t working for someone else lile it is for them is just nonsense, it’s impossible.
And I fucking hate it.
Blazing Angels. Amazing flight simulator fighting game that I still have the discs of for either XBox or XBox 360.
The game is still listed on Steam, but you can’t buy it. I absolutely loved that game growing up, making your way through the ranks, taking part in some of the biggest air battles of WWII.
When it stands up, it made me think that RoboCop and the Pixar Lamp had a baby 😱
The U.S.
election systemis a joke, and a sham democracy.
FTFY
Saw another article that puts the 10th percentile of AMOC collapse around 2037, and 90th percentile around 2062, both from these same scientists.
I think we’ll be lucky to make it to 2040, personally.
You’ve got a couple options here, depending on tools needed (though this is all mostly US based).
Local libraries can have libraries of things where you can check out all kinds of stuff, as another user pointed out. Tools, fishing poles, cooking equipment, etc.
Home Depot/Lowes/Ace Hardware will rent a lot of tools at decent rates, from hand tools to power tools to floor sanders and carpet cleaners and lawn and everything, haha.
But, auto parts stores like Auto Zone will also usually let you borrow tools for free after paying a returnable deposit. If you work on your car and say, want to raise/lower it, go to AutoZone, pay the $20 deposit for the proper spring clamps, use them, and return them and get your $20 back.
This option is great for folks who have disposable income, but not the space for the equipment they may want or need. I’d love a CNC machine, but I’m poor, and it would not fit in my 800sqft house 😭😂
I’ve asked every realtor if the property has had any tenants pass away in it, whether I’m renting or buying. Some disclose no issue, some have said it’s illegal to disclose (not sure about that, it was for a rental in MD). The rental they said it was illegal, there would be a knocking on my walls late at night, like, 2-3 am. Both the wall behind my headboard, and the wall attached to the living room. I never knocked back, and a few friends said I should have rolled a ball and seen if if it would roll back, then I’d “know it was a child ghost.”
No thanks…
A buddy of mine, though, lives next to a house that was originally built as the town morgue in the 1700s. He’s said even when he’s visited, he’s seen lights flicker and stuff. His story, though, was about a couple renting the house. I guess the guy was an abusive asshole to the woman, and they were going at it one night during a storm. He raised his arm to hit her, and they both swear they saw a man standing between them, facing him with a very nasty look on his face.
She left him shortly thereafter and he moved out. But my buddy swears whatever was in that house had had enough him beating on her and made it clear he was being watched.
It doesn’t.
I didn’t want to use a credit card, that doesn’t mean they don’t accept them. They made that clear they do.
So no… Your point does not still stand.
Seriously, look at the beauty standards and treatments of the Victorian era.
Women would squeeze citric acid in their eyes because they believe it cleaned them and whitened them, and the burning sensation was just the germs being cleaned.
