The fact that some replies don’t understand the title of the article and some are trying to explain it is funny af to me, I’m sorry 😂

CherryBullets@lemmy.cato Technology@lemmy.world•Still booting after all these years: The people stuck using ancient Windows computersEnglish6·2 months agoThey lost me when they removed the start button on the left side of the taskbar in version 8.1 (I think it was) to… Be cool with the kids (I think 8.1 was supposed to be touch screen friendly)? I don’t even know, but I went back to Windows 7 for a long while.
The backlash with the start button was so huge that they put it back on the taskbar in Windows 10 (at least mine has it and is the reason I got Windows 10). I’m currently refusing to update to Windows 11, because it apparently crashes when playing certain video games and I’m not about to have the other trash bugs that come with it, which I’ve been seeing posted on Microsoft help forums when I search for Windows 10 related questions. Fuck that noise, I don’t want to deal with it.
CherryBullets@lemmy.catoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•I don't remember that part of the movie GhostEnglish9·2 months agoSo, Scary Movie?
It’s the government accepting it, you blind? 💀 Unless you aren’t part of society whatsoever, you’re accepting it too lmao
That’s just how it works; Elongated Muskrat literally had fraud investigations and fired the people investigating him, he still spends that fake money 💀 Trump also had fraud charges, should be in prison, still spends that fake money.
Be for real dude, the average Joe would be in prison even with the best lawyers. My comment was satire of what to do to screw to system, but you don’t recognize satire so let me be clear; no, the average Joe can’t get away with this shit unless they are the luckiest mf alive, which is why my comment was said in humour lol
Everything counts in the real world, that’s how billionaires are where they are!
Ask a friend, easy peasy. Just make sure you say it in person away from any device in a backyard or in a park.

I’ve had raw eggs for years, never once got salmonella from them. You know what gave me Salmonella though? A fast food Chinese place… and more than once. The raw egg panic is really overblown.
Also:
“Yes, raw eggs are safe to eat in Canada. Canadian eggs undergo an intense inspection process before they reach grocery stores, and the risk of salmonella contamination is extremely low.”
“IS IT SAFE TO EAT RAW OR SOFT-COOKED EGGS? Yes, as long as the eggs are handled properly: • Always use fresh Canada Grade A eggs that have been kept refrigerated. The Best Before date on the carton will help determine freshness. Ensure that the egg is clean and the shell is not cracked.”
Legit, I’ve never had raw egg issues in Canada and people who harp about it, I find, never even eat raw eggs at all. Québec has a huge tartare culture and many eat raw eggs with tartare, it’s not even comparable to the US. Come on now 🙄
Source to counter the appeal to authority:

Canadians eggs are tested way more than US eggs. Not negotiable. We might have similar processes, but we don’t have the same risk level (which is why saying North America is ignorant, we don’t treat egg safety the same way as the US due to cultural traditions which still involve raw eggs). Get real.
“North American”, no, just American. I eat my tartare with raw eggs just fine up here in Canada 😂

CherryBullets@lemmy.cato World News@lemmy.world•Instead of F-35, Portugal turns to Europe in search of new fighterEnglish2·4 months agoMost dictators do, unfortunately. It takes several attempts and many courageous people willing to sacrifice to get there and sometimes that doesn’t even stop the dictatorship, as the dictator has a successor lined up.

CherryBullets@lemmy.cato World News@lemmy.world•B.C. woman detained at U.S. border, sent to Arizona detention facility in chainsEnglish1·4 months agoThere were many attempts by the English to make the Québécois renounce French AND Catholicism and those who refused publicly to pledge loyalty to the crown in the past were hung for treason, they were even forcing many to change their family names to English names (my father’s family had their name forcibly changed, it’s in the archives).
The genocide attempts were never publicly aknowledged by Canada and are only taught in history class in Québec. Hell, even Le Grand Dérangement (the deportation and genocide of Acadiens, which is better known than the attempts in Québec) was never aknowledged as a genocide by Canada (which is fucking stupid if you know anything about Canadian history). Even better fact for you: the native genocides weren’t recognized until recently either. Canada has a terrible track record of recognizing genocides.
Edit: All I can find in English is a few references to Le Grand Dérangement and I barely find anything in French on my search engine. I refuse to use Google to search at all, so you can feel free to contact French Canadian historians at McGill or something if you doubt what the English did to my people.
Here is a well known report that proves the English were actively considering my people as inferior and needing to assimilate to be eradicated, since they literally considered us a different “race” of people (this is in English for you):
https://www.alloprof.qc.ca/en/students/vl/history/the-durham-report-h1557
It doesn’t explain how they enacted this, but you best believe they enacted it in the worst ways possible.
CherryBullets@lemmy.cato World News@lemmy.world•B.C. woman detained at U.S. border, sent to Arizona detention facility in chainsEnglish1·4 months agoYeah, because French Canadians being genocided and force assimilated didn’t count, apparently.
For those who didn’t know, yes genocide was attempted and yes force assimilation was attempted. Many died. We survived in the end, but a lot of blood was shed. I don’t really expect Americans to know this. Some barely know Canada has a French speaking population.
To be fair, the butter one always slaps, even when “failed”.
CherryBullets@lemmy.cato Technology@lemmy.world•Surprise! People don't want AI deciding who gets a kidney transplant and who dies or endures years of miseryEnglish1·4 months agoThat is not how it “basically works” where I live; doctors don’t care about what I do for a living or how much money I have, they just treat me like everyone else. The triage is by priority (as in emergency and compatibility of the organ). If they used AI, it wouldn’t be for the choice itself, but for keeping track of the waiting list. The AI itself choosing based on criteria like age, sex, race, work or culture would be unethical.
I’m trans, I have Gender Dysphoria and I’ve been out for 15+ years. I disagree with your way of approaching things, you are alianating allies and you live in a clear online bubble if you think most of us agree with your aggressive, arrogant, tactics.
Also, I enjoy HP due to childhood nostalgia and have watched it here and there as an adult. I just don’t support HP financially and that’s OK… Being a control freak that thinks cis people don’t deserve to voice their opinion if their opinion isn’t exactly the same as yours is toxic to allies and to other trans people who can clearly disagree with you and your little sample of an online clique’s opinion. You don’t speak for most of us (I’m sure there’s various opinions within our community that aren’t 100% in agreement with you, nuance exists in the real world) and you certainly don’t speak for all of us.
Keep it about yourself only next time instead of talking for others, least you make yourself look like a fool and a tool again.
