This is why I’m not going to buy RAM / Dodge / Chrysler/ Jeep / anything Stellantis owns, and this is why I’m not buying any new car with “smart” / “built-in” junk.

I don’t know of any car that has an actually good head unit. Its either garbage because its a giant touch screen, making it super difficult to navigate without looking (that’s why all the controls in an airplane are different shapes and sizes), or its just a hub for you to run Android Auto / apples equivalent.

As much as I want to see Lemmy and the rest of the fediverse flourish; at the same time, I hope it doesn’t.

Once the fediverse becomes popular and gains main-stream attention, the billionaires and political twats will flock towards it and try to monetize it; Morons will flood the fediverse with memes and AI slop worse than !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world (you know what you’ve done); corporations will start spamming ads for their shitty products; and scammers will start setting up bot nets to coerce users into sending them money to their new AI waifus.

The unbearable weight of all the garbage entering and attacking the fediverse will drive moderators out the door, leaving servers as wastelands of junk. No longer interesting, no longer human. Just trash, like how Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, etc… are today.

So yes, I’ll welcome friends and family into the fediverse with open arms. But I really hope we don’t start getting too many shout outs

So it checks out that OP posted the comic when they were presumably having trouble falling asleep. Bbuutt im calling myself out in assuming that no one lives in another time zone. There is/was a running joke that people think other time zones don’t exist

I’m in the same boat with a few others here when it comes to some games like Halo and Fallout. But I feel like I’m on the brink with 2 new ones:

• Doom: I played the original when I was a kid and got bullied for it (or probably being a general nerd). 2016 and Eternal were really popular and the franchise took off; but Dark Ages feels off. I played Dark Ages for a bit, put it down, and haven’t picked it up since. I think Doom is going down the shitter, especially what they did to Mick Gordon.
• Mother Mother (a band): My SO and I love their music for how unique and interesting it is; and we went to one of their first concerts at a small venue when they came into town ~10 years ago ish? Must have been <500 people. Generally no one else liked their music we shared it with, so we kept it to ourselves. Now? We went to another one a few months ago and it was at a HUGE stadium; absolutely packed. I think one of their songs went viral on TikTok - My Daddy’s got a gun. We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished, but really hope they don’t lose their identity in trying to become even more popular.

It says Hungary was violating Brussels laws, but doesn’t explain what and the nuances of why the Danish are going after Hungary.

From what I found: Hungary put a new law in place that says they can investigate and prosecute anyone that “threatens the sovereignty of Hungary” [source]. But because of how the law is written, it violates the EU policy that states citizens have the right to privacy.

It seems like the Danish are pulling an article 7 (to block Hungary from voting) so they can boot out Hungary who is an opponent to Ukraine becoming an EU member; which is causing problems with the EU supporting Ukraine against Russia

• Don’t go to bed with the same clothes you wore during the day. The perspiration will make you really cold at night
• Even though it’s warm during the day, don’t assume it’ll be warm at night. The temp differences can be quite drastic
• pack your clothes for the next day in your sleeping bag so they’re warm in the morning. I usually either roll them up and use them as a pillow, or put them deep inside my sleeping bag by my feet.
