Manchin and Cinema are Dem in name only, their actions are GOP at every turn.

Don’t forget, 3 of the 5 SCOTUS were appointed by Trump, so everything happening with them now is from that and Biden doesn’t have power to stop that.

And either way, both Dem and GOP are Right Wing parties and their goals are more or less to maintain the status quo, benefit corporations and elites, keep power, etc.

Neither party has interests or incentives to truly progress things that benefit people, except in maybe a scrap or two to get votes.

We don’t really have a government by the people and FOR the people right now. If we did we would have Ranked Choice Voting, no more Electoral College BS, no more Gerrymandering, Voting Day would be a federal holiday, mail in ballots would be universal and accepted, etc etc etc.

And the reason for all of that is the GOP blocking or sabotaging every single effort to improve things, and then blaming the Dems, and it convinced a LOT of people.

You do realize that language evolves and changes, what sounds odd to us may not in 20 years and what sounds normal now may have sounded odd 20 years ago.

Yes there are some rules, but also those rules are subject to change too.

Conservativism - “Conservatism is a cultural, social, and political philosophy and ideology, which seeks to promote and preserve traditional institutions, customs, and values.” - Wikipedia

There is nothing wrong with wanting to preserve some traditions, institutions or values. The issue many have with it is when the things wanted to be preserved are racist or harmful to many people, etc. There are some things we need to move past, like slavery, and then there are some people that will loudly proclaim themselves conservative and say we should go back to slavery.

And yes, a lot of that does seem to be the USA’s/Canada’s current conservative parties.

But wanting to “keep things as they are/were” isn’t a horrible thing in and of itself, but it’s often the specific things that they want to go back to.

You said you are a proud conservative and then proceeded to list off things that are completely antithetical to it. I am so confused. Everything you said is progressive, socialist, leftist, not at all conservative. Conservatives want things to stay as they are, to not progress, to not change. I.E. This system is working (for me) so let’s keep it. Progressives say things aren’t working (for everyone) so we should attempt to make it better for us all instead of a few people having everything and most people having little.

I mean this in the kindest most supportive way possible. You may want to do some introspection and comparisons with what you want to happen and what the political parties are pushing for. You may find you are anything but conservative or you may find you actually are conservative and you really don’t want those things you said.
