If I share a news article, does it become a meme? Should I post news articles here?

Is everything funny a meme? And why does it have to be funny?
Edit: also, humor is subjective. Are some things just a meme to you but not to me, and other things vice versa? Who judges what is funny?
That’s BS and you know that.
So I can start posting news links?
Affordable compared to appartments and houses.
Also there’s just a ton of anxiety needing to move around constantly. Where are you exactly where that’s not a worry?
Depends on your motivation to live in a van. My parents just moved into a pick up truck turned RV because they want to move a lot. Travel around, see the world as long as they still are able to. It’s not a thing to accomodate, it’s the real deal to them.
(Though they are kind if priviledged they can afford this with an early retirement and by selling the house they owned.)

7·5 days agoWhy does one have to be “good” for these not to be the same? Those things are different, with different motivations, methods, outcomes, etc.
And all in all, forms of colonialism during antiquity hadn’t nearly the negative impact on the colonialized areas and people as modern, imperialistic colonialism.
Or do you really think that phoenician (antiquity) or norse (early medieval) trading outposts that integrated into the surrounding cultures and sometimes organically (!) evolve into a new culture (for example, Carthage, Kievan Rus) or viking/norse settlements in what became a french vassal in Normandy is the same as european powers carving up Africa among each other, comitting genocide in the process and drawing new borders disregarding tribal territories?

81·5 days agoNo, sorry. You cannot lump all types of colonialism into one thing. Ancient greek or phoenician colonization were different to roman coloniae were different to the imperialistically twisted colonialism focused on extortion of the colonialized people and areas that started to be an idea in the (very) late middle ages, took off in the early modern era and reached its peak in the 18th and 19th century.

14·5 days agoWas it explained? There was a comment that Klingons don’t like to talk about it but no explanation I remember.
Yes, and the explanation that Klingons don’t discuss it with outsiders was perfectly fine. The only better thing DS9 could have done would have been to dress Michael Dorn up as a TOS Klingon as soon as the time travel was finished, then get him back into his make up after they traveled back into home time and nobody acknowledging the change in any way.
In ENT they made an episode about Klingons trying to create their own Augments in a failed experiment that lead to Klingons losing their forehead ridges. It was okay, but not good enough to be necessary. It was not to klingon foreheads what Rogue One was to the first Death Star’s exhaust shaft.

Get that AI slop out of here.
You can’t see the transphobia in “trans people should kill themselves” and “trans people are pedophiles”?
All right, time to follow my own advice. Bye.
To quote myself:
spamming extremly transphobic hate posts
and
this is about trolls that are truly only about spreading hate.
Not sure what is hard to understand about this.

I did not make this post out of nothing. The accout with that modlog was created and just started to spam maximally offensive transphobic shitposts over multiple communities. And because people started to comment and argue with that account, I felt some should be reminded to not feed trolls.

I just want to fathom the borders here. If everything is a meme, why are we not posting news, games, tutorials, etc in this comm?
