Who would downvote this lol? No kids, but also fully am tired of the us vs them mentality with cf versus childed. In today’s world there is usually a much greater sacrifice to have kids and to be able to afford or have a community to have date nights and such, but having children is still an adventure that many parents enjoy. You probably hear a lot from the complainers, though. Similar to married guys who sigh and call their wives the old woman… the happily married are silent af usually.

It’s often fixable if caught soon enough. Basically the affected creature gets ripped a new asshole under anasthesia.
I think you can hide message previews now, but dang lol.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner?
32·24 days agoKnives that don’t suck. Also getting chickens. I love them so much, great pets and they lay eggs :)
This is actually changing. Historically, folks usually moved more right as they aged, but that is shifting as folks agr now. Times are different, tons of people who did everything right can’t even afford a house now.
Fair point. Even in this case that could be true, but the added context made me fill in the blanks to believe the disappointment was more about him not being able to pass certain things on since he believed in traditional gender roles.
Why does the husband have a hand with 5 fingers for only the first panel and then everyone else has mits for hands? Lol.
I had a very Christian coworker who already had a daughter and who was part of the maga pipeline. He didn’t hide his disappointment when he told me the gender of he and his wife’s next child had been revealed as another girl. Sent a shudder up my spine how he paused and said it in a sad tone, the way you would if you were a teenager expecting a Mustang for your birthday and instead having your parents roll up in a Saturn for you. What kind of world do we live in where folks are disappointed that their next kid will be female? It’s dumb society has been crafted this way, stupid af.
How do people have money to just afford replacing things like this? Or is this a sacrificial chair for the cat? Is all their furniture like this? I have so many questions.

1·5 months agoI dont think the debate is over whether you have to leave the garbage to do this hike; I think the argument is that because you HAVE to do that, this expedition should either be closed or more highly regulated. The amount of trash and bodies will just slowly accumulate, and it’s weird in today’s world of high tech gear to even claim summiting as a badge of honor. Sure it’s cool… but you have nothing on the folks that did it with limited knowledge and questionable gear in the early days.

1·5 months agoId like to sneak in and offer an opposing argument here. I see what you are saying, but imagine if someone said poachers in Africa depend on the revenue from selling illegal wildlife goods. The idea is that even if its a reality now, it really isn’t a good one, and if they COULD work away from it, it’d likely be better overall.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you retire at 30 and live frugally?
2·6 months agoI’d do it, but retiring early = doing my hobbies instead. Long days writing books, making art, volunteering, and pet sitting. Retiring would just mean working the jobs I want instead of the ones I have to.
Hate the early darkness because it marks the end of my garden and the beginning of muddy paws and shoes needing to be cleaned before entering the house, but otherwise winter is beautiful.
I really enjoyed this answer. I have definitely noticed a more positive spin on having children from my non American or well traveled friends, and this reminded me of their views.

Well said.
