If you ever create a system where the number of users is “group.members - 1” everywhere in the code, I’d be very disappointed in you and deny that PR.
On another note; I doubt WhatsApp are so concerned with performance they are actually limiting the number of group members by the data type.

I don’t need a project to explicitly say they are DEI inclusive, I generally don’t care who is contributing, but when you explicitly state you are against it in the README of your project that is just wild. The only divide I’m increasing by saying I don’t support or respect people who choose to, and makes it very clear they are, excluding people based on diversity is a divide they’ve created for themselves. Especially when it’s a fucking open source software project, like wtf does DEI have to do with it that the owner has to bring it up to begin with if not to intentionally hurt someone.

100% with you. “Left to right” as far as I can tell only exists to make otherwise “unsolvable” problems a kind of official solution. I personally feel like it is a bodge, and I would rather the correct solution for such a problem to be undefined.
I fully agree that if it comes down to “left to right” the problem really needs to be rewritten to be more clear. But I’ve just shown why that “rule” is a common part of these meme problems because it is so weird and quite esoteric.
I hadn’t thought about it on their server side tbf. But the more i think about it maybe there are other compounding reasons to keep group sizes small, such as the exponential number of links in a growing network and such. But, that is all beyond my knowledge area.
