Privacy@programming.dev•Invasive Israeli-founded bloatware is harvesting data from Samsung users
1·3 months agoMaybe I do not understand. But my version of Appcloud is not Israeli.
I have a Samsung M, with bloatware including AppCloud. It has terms of service and privacy policy and mentions what open source code it uses. It is a product of Aura for Unity and not from Israel. It DOES COLLECT A SH*TLOAD OF DATA if I may believe the privacy policy so it is disabled in my system.
From the privacy policy:
“2.INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND USE. These Services are pre-installed on your device. We may collect information about your device such as the manufacturer, device model, operating system, available storage place, whether headphones and charger are connected to the device, the language that the device is set to, IP address, Android advertising identifier, GCM token, a list of the applications which are installed on your device and the frequency of usage in the applications, mobile operator, device ID and technical details like RAM and CPU. We may also collect information such as your country, usage data (for example, how many times you used our Service) and information provided by you about your gender and age. Information we gather may be used to understand your preferences and accordingly, to recommend you with services that we believe may be of interest to you. We may also use data for purposes that include analytics, product enhancements and new development, provide our services. Technology@lemmy.world•New Executive Order:AI must agree on the Administration views on Sex,Race, cant mention what they deem to be Critical Race Theory,Unconscious Bias,Intersectionality,Systemic Racism or "TransgenderismEnglish
2·5 months agoSure, it can go wrong, it is not fool-proof. Just like building a new model can cause unwanted surprises.
BTW. There are many theories about Grok’s unethical behavior but this one is new to me. The reasons I was familiar with are: unfiltered training data, no ethical output restrictions, programming errors or incorrect system maintenance, strategic errors (Elon!), publishing before proper testing.

2·5 months agoNo. You would use a base model (GPT-4o) to get a reliable language model to which you would add a set of rules that the chat bot follows. Every company has its own rules, it is already widely in use to add data like company-specific manuals and support documents. Not rocketscience at all.

Technology@lemmy.world•If Kodak came back with a Camera tomorrow, what would you be awaiting from a company like them?English
9·11 months agoAlmost all compact cameras lack a viewfinder. They are competing with phone-photography, which they are losing.
The weak point of taking photos with mobile phones is the screen. In bright sunshine, you can not make good photos. So I would say: make a simple, small viewfinder camera with software- & sensor- technology similar to phones, with a slightly better lens. Keep it really cheap for almost throw-away price so everyone can afford it and a lot can be sold. It would have a small screen and a viewfinder so taking pictures in bright light is easier. It can cast a slideshow to TVs and computers (the small screen would work as a remote control, swipe for next). An accessory like HDMI to Wifi (Chromecast-like) stick can be sold.
It could be the modern interpretation of the iconic Kodak Instamatic.

5·11 months agoWhat do you mean with “if they came back to the Camera market?”
Maybe I do not understand your question, Kodak is still selling cameras?
Considering that USA does not rule out using force, Greenland should tell them to close their military base on Greenland and send their loud mouths back to their own territory.

World News@lemmy.world•Israeli soccer fans were attacked in Amsterdam. The violence was condemned as antisemiticEnglish
14·1 year agoIn this ‘report’ of people who were not in Amsterdam, a movie of Macabi fans beating up a Dutch citizen is used. Read what the movie-maker says about this (and you can verify, because on several platforms the author-name is in the top-right corner):

The precedent was years ago with Facebook and WhatsApp blocking alleged anti government messages (which the court branded as anti-nation, sedition). Last year the BBC documentary about Modi and alleged fascism was world news and led to the departure of BBC from India. The problem is that the world sees India as an emerging market where in fact it is a fascist country in the making.
You should leave anyway if you have a chance. Germany looking for 70.000 skilled Indians.
