You use it to take the NextCloud files (set the NextCloud directory as a source) and Then you sent the files to a backup repository (destination).

You don’t send the backup files to a NextCloud install. That’s not the correct way to use the tool.

I self host a Borg repository in docker so the backup gets sent locally and then I also use borgbase as offsite backup.

You can have as many sources and destinations as you want

Borg backup is the way to go for this.

Its designed to have encrypted repos that are send to any destination remote or local.

Futo voice to text works nice and fast on my pixel 8 pro. Fractions of a second slower than google. Also that’s with the slower English 74 library (more data point, slower). They have an even larger one but the default is the smaller and faster English-39 model

Security in layers.

All your services should be using https. Vaultwarden in particular won’t even run without https unless you bypass a bunch of security measures.

This is how to setup local only and external https, I highly recommend this as a baseline setup for every homelab. It allows you to choose how much security you want on a per app basis and makes adding new apps trivially easy.

Anyone with the knowledge to self host will quickly discover 3-2-1. If they choose to follow it, that’s on them but data loss won’t be from ignorance

Borg backup to borgbase is not very expensive and borg will encrypt the data plus the vault is also encrypted

Keep vaultwarden behind wireguard for local only access then also use https certs and good master password. Very secure like this

Use aegis, export the keys and then reimport them every time you switch. Trusting your second factor to a cloud is a disaster waiting to happen.

If you want to get fancy setup your own cloud server (nextcloud, Seafile, owncloud etc) and set the backup folder for aegis to the self hosted cloud for easy restore every time you switch ROMs.

FWIW collabora and open office can integrate with other clouds like Seafile and owncloud Infinite scale. So even without NextCloud it can be used. It can also be used stand alone.

Is this useful for a homelab with a current setup of 1 physical host -> proxmox -> alpine VM -> docker?

Docker is managed by portainer that pulls docker compose files from a git repo. Around 30 containers total in 10 or so stacks.

This idea looks really interesting but it seems to be mostly for kubernetes deployments

If you are willing to spend a bit more upfront, I bought a mini PC in 2017 and installed opnsense on it. It’s still rock solid. For wifi, I use a separate ap (a ubiquity UAP that I bought in 2015) and it is also going strong. Almost a decade of rock solid performance easily beats out any other router I’ve owned in terms of both performance and cost.

Does anyone know if these ai chips will be good at transcoding (jellyfin) or facial detection on a security camera (frigate). Seems these might be good for homelabers.

I thought for sure the camera was toast when it went all purple, it looks like the lense was essentially gone and we are just seeing the raw output of the CCD but then the flap moved and there was a few frames where you could actually see the flap and the damage but it’s still actuating!

There is essentially no better data that this regarding what the error tolerance is on the flaps. Should help create lots if reliability in future versions

These are prototype rockets. They iterate so fast the they already have new designs that make this one obsolete. It’s purpose was to gather data on the various things including heat tile performance so they know what to upgrade next.

The next one that flies will also be obsolete with a newer one already partially completed.
