Not all countries provide citizenship based on ancestry, and this means that denying birthright citizenship can lead to statelessness, which is very dangerous for those people. So for them, it is a requirement for a basic and normal life free from state violence.
A nation isn’t a community, at least not in any real, human sense. We barely even know many of our neighbors, let alone those across the country.
The fact that it’s common doesn’t make it right. All of these policies were adopted following the rise of race science, fascism, nationalism, etc. It’s surprising people haven’t started to push back on them more yet.

For the record, he’s a democratic socialist, not a social democrat. These are distinct, though related movements. The difference between them, which you seem confused about, is that socialists do not uphold the capitalist class, despite your claims. Social democrats want to retain capitalism, while democratic socialists do not.
However, democratic socialists do have differences of opinion with more radical socialists on the best way to achieve the socialized means of production they aim for. They favor reform over revolution.
You are welcome to disagree with this view but it’s not a good reason to view their socialism as false or insincere.

Tankies have redefined a wide variety of words in ways that are completely unrecognizable to other speakers of their languages. Empire and imperialism are prominent examples. So I suspect, if you understood the way he’s using the word, the statement would be accurate. But of course, one also needs to acknowledge that their definitions are carefully crafted for political ends, including the deception of unsuspecting people.
