  • Mine absolutely adores messing with that assumption. I’m nonbinary and she’s bi though strongly prefers women and more ambiguous to fem leaning nonbinary people. She looks like a very Butch lesbian but together our relationship is straight passing since I’m built like a fridge cosplaying Harry and the Hendersons and when my joint pain acts up like the most tips fedora Neckbearded MF to ever haunt the halls of an anime convention.

So when she’s alone and everyone has her pegged dead to rights as a textbook carpet muncher she plays into it going “My partner this, my partner that,” just to see the look on their faces when my literal grizzly bear ass shows up with our 3 kids or she decides to switch it up to mention her husband and kids.

    it is hilarious.

  • Good for you? Again, talk to basically any trans woman who has been transitioning for a while and almost all of them have an Ew-phoria story they can tell you where they were a wild Gender Affirming Sexism appeared. Hell, I know several that regularly deploy Tactical Misogyny™ in their own self-deprecating humor because it’s gender-affirming.

Humans are fucking weird little gremlin beasts.

  • The joke is that you’d think the reactions would be switched because getting called pretty is generally the nice thing and there dishwasher comment is usually meant as a sexist jab. But there’s a phenomenon among trans people in general but in this case among trans women in particular where especially early on in transition they tend to get very happy at experiencing the garden variety sexism that’s usually reserved for their aligned gender because it means the other people are seeing them as that gender rather than their agab and treating them as such.

  • It’s kinda funny. My partner and I literally couldn’t afford to do this and I had to be a stay at home parent for our oldest. He’s autistic and his special needs meant that daycare for him cost more than I could possibly reasonably make. Like this was back in 2016 before she became disabled herself and needed me available 24/7 but I would have needed to make like I think it was $17 an hour full time just to cover daycare and transportation? So since she had a way better work history than me being a few years older and having been a mid-level government employee back in her home state before she moved while I was just a 2 associate degree having IT grad it made much more sense for me to stay home.

This is literally the face my daughter made, hugging the coffee cup and all the day she stole an entire large iced capp from off the register at the grocery store when she was like 3-ish.

We were getting groceries at Sam’s Club and they at least at this time made you give them your cart to scan the stuff. We had our twins with us riding in there seats on he cart so they went to one side while we paid. Well it happens that some of the managers were doing inventory and one of them had placed their iced capp on the register. My daughter saw it, decided she was having it, and took it. We get the cart back and start walking to the door when we hear that telltale sound of a straw in an empty cup. We didn’t notice it before that because she had the cup in an absolute bear hug hiding the whole thing.

My wife goes to apologize for Little Bit stealing the drink to a look of horror from the manager whose coffee that was saying “That was full…” clearly thinking this kid was about to have a heart attack. This little girl was so sleepy after downing that coffee that she didn’t wake up when we got home, when I carried her to her bed, then slept like 4 more hours.

  • Getting ready to possibly have to sue my kid’s school district because the state implemented a cell phone ban and the district refuses to address the fact that he has a documented history of autistic meltdowns where he goes into full on Flight mode and has made it out of the building on multiple occasions. He kept getting suspended because he’d barrel through any adult that got in his way until he finally calmed down. At like 8 years old mind you, he’s 14 now. “Oh we’ll just set up a BIP.” Oh you mean that thing your staff and faculty IGNORED for fucking years because there was never any mention of any of the fucking outbursts you’d call me about regarding him hitting someone because they refused to leave him alone and you did nothing about when he told you? That BIP?

We didn’t even want to get him a fucking phone in the first place! That’s the compromise we made with the district years ago because they kept losing my fucking kid, refused to okay any other kind of tracker, and adding him to our plan with a cheapo smartphone was the the only one they’d okay that we could afford.

Sorry for the rant. I get really angry when I think about the way my brother and I were screwed over by the public school system and watching it repeat itself in New and Exciting ways with my own kids.
