43·2 years agoSorry bud, how about you start a thread and get some community feedback? Maybe your opinion is problematic or maybe the mods made a mistake.
Idk I’m not psychic

4·2 years agoEngagement is a two way street, you need to post something worth engaging with.
Occasionally I’ve seen a valid opinion/idea with some downvotes but there’s still usually responses that get a discussion going. Only the true shit has the massive one sided downvote ratio with, unfortunately, a few replies from people who took the bait.

31·2 years agoYou’re being downvoted because you straw manned, not sure if intentionally or not.
If your solution to a problem can fit on a bumper sticker it’s wrong.
Like…really? Do you think that this community, or anyone worth talking to, thinks that it’s that easy?

81·2 years agowithout the propaganda garbage.
I’d disagree, still rife with garbage. Is it more palatable and more subtle? Sure.
I’d still rather not push any views or engagement to them in the first place. Link one of the countless other news sites with the same talking points. Hell this article was copied from Reuters on to fox business.

1·2 years agoAgreed, but the writing was on the wall that he was not going to win - the judge had previously sided with sellers in these kinds of contracts in other cases.
If it had gone to trial and he was ruled against, he would have VERY likely been forced to settle the transaction rapidly with his own capital, rather than have time to arrange for the financing that he ended up using.
I think it’s pretty clear in retrospect - he stubbornly tried to get out of the purchase while people who were smarter than him kept telling him he needs to start accepting reality that he’s going to own twitter soon. Finally he gave in when he realized he had a lot more to lose than a few billion, or maybe he got a call from daddy who told him to stop being a moron and arrange a loan.

I’m no rich billionaire with insider knowledge but my confident guess is he could finance it on his terms or be forced to liquidate stock to pay straight cash. He chose the option that wouldn’t very possible take him out of the top .01%

3·2 years agoMaybe a feature request, but is there an addon that just blocks videos with shitty thumbnails or all caps? Might make the front page almost presentable.
If this extension could just hide those videos as an option, or at least flag them it might make browsing better.

Technology@lemmy.world•DeArrow extension for YouTube that makes thumbnails bearableEnglish
3·2 years agoThat feels a bit unfair. The explore tab could be a useful feature, and should link to good content, but YouTube’s implementation of it fucking sucks.
If this addon makes it better I’m all for it.
I do agree with the concerns of another poster. Clickbait thumbnails lets me know the video wasn’t worth watching most of the time.

73·2 years agoI agree with you when it comes to AI in its current form - I wouldn’t even call it a party trick, just dumb luck. Machine learning through repetition will use existing ideas and tropes.
However you can provide the model with unique ideas, new tropes, characters, environments, and settings. The model in its current form could generate something nearly usable (script wise) and still be a valid piece of art with some cleaning up. Just because you save time doesn’t make an idea less “good”
In the future we could have near sentient AI that generates actual pieces of art far faster and better than a person can.

But I never remember which so I just rotate back and forth
