Hey, congratulations! We just made nine years over here too

They’re still in use at most banks where I live. Most hospitals use them too; way faster than dumbwaiters
Damn, I haven’t thought about those in a long time
Question: I bought my phone unlocked several years ago. I have AT&T. But apparently, because I didn’t buy it from AT&T, my visual voicemail refuses to work
I’ve tried and given up several times to fix it, and it’s not a huge deal; I just miss being able to check my voicemail without calling it.
Do you happen to know anything about this? Every “fix” I’ve found has failed so far
Go on…
I just discovered the joys of sitting to pee this past year. I just never thought about it before, and only sat to pee if I had to poop too… though I can’t say I ever cared whether someone else sat or stood to pee
But I had two separate fainting spells while standing to pee after getting out of bed (orthostatic hypotension), and almost really hurt myself the second time. Now, I often sit to pee at home because it’s just more comfortable (and apparently safer). Live and learn I guess
He has a doctorate in art, I believe
We call that “snake jazz”, but it is widely known that many creatures (other than snakes) also practice that particular style of jazz
That’s what happened to me. Used one for the first time at a hotel — bought one not long after and will never go back. Got like a $30 one and am still using it over 4 years later. I’ll probably upgrade when I have the extra money, realizing just now how long it’s been since I got it
That’s freaking cool, I never knew that. Appreciate the link
Check out “slow scan tv” if you haven’t already. I have my amateur license and was surprised to learn all of the ways in which radio waves can be utilized
I can carry 3 full pint glasses in one hand and 2 in the other. If they’re empty, I can carry 4 in one hand and 3 in the other. It comes in handy more than I would expect
Damn, I forgot about Smash TV. Idk how much time my friend and I spent on that game as kids
I thought Chrome was planning to oust ad blockers in 2024. Idk if that’s true though, maybe I’m mis-remembering.
I’ve kinda stuck with Firefox for many years now because I never saw any reason not too. I honestly hardly ever used extensions though (except ad blockers), so maybe there’s something I don’t understand about any downfalls of Firefox. I just don’t see any, especially nowadays. It just works for me, so I never fully switched.
I’ve tried other browsers, but I just come back to Firefox ever time. It’s a comfort at this point
That’s a fact!
(In Scooby-Doo theme song style)
Well… damn. I’m mid-30’s; Tech is (definitely) kind of a hobby of mine; and I use Linux for learning, experimenting, and… uhh, tech hobby stuff lol. I can solder a little, and sometimes it actually works!
Maybe it’s because that cohort is the fastest to adopt. We grew up with a rapidly changing internet, we’re kinda used to navigating the glitches/unfamiliarity, and it’s just more familiar (to us) in a “back-to-basics” way. I feel like I’ve entered a nostalgic “place” that has become better since I last visited.
With Memmy for ios going full-live, the multitude of 3rd party apps at full throttle, and Facebook ready with “Threads” - this just seems like the first wave of what could be a hell of a storm. The content will increase and diversify, that’s inevitable now.
The question is: do people want to be responsible for maintaining a user-controlled platform? Or would they prefer an operator help to connect us? We’ll see, but I guarantee there will be some fresh af memes coming through here in the mean time, so no worries
Hell, while you’re here… throw some of those old ass memes (or almost any pic you’ve got saved on your phone) onto !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone
Be the change you want to see and shit
Or don’t, it’s not like anyone can really judge you when you’re anonymous… but you’ll know. Months from now, when you’re lying in bed, unable to sleep because you were complicit in the apathy; you’ll wonder if it could have been different. You’ll try to bury the intrusive thoughts and “what ifs”, but you’ll always wonder…
“Could it have actually worked? Might we have taken claim to a piece of independence in the future of world communications?!”
… and the thought slips away, as you mainline another 40 min of memes directly into you’re neurotransmitter reservoir, for sustenance and maintenence
My wife and I both use the “thumbs down” method. It’s funniest when we’re both doing it to some ass-hat, while riding together.
It often de-escalates the person though, as if they don’t know how to respond. They usually just make angry gestures and mutter (probably obscenities) to themselves, but their rage usually chills out a bit. It’s almost like you make them aware of how childish they’re acting
