As a manager I would definitely contact an employee’s emergency contacts and then request a welfare check if one of my team dropped off the face of the earth. Medical incidents happen and a couple of the team live alone that I know of.

My 4 year old is gen alpha. So I’m kind of glad adults on the internet don’t relate to that generation yet

I use it because it has what I want.

It has my local community group who discuss ideas and plan events. It has my mother’s group who only use Facebook messenger to communicate. It has my extended family who live overseas. If I left and asked them to send me pictures I would only get a few a year, this way I see pics every week.

Do I hate the idea of it? Yes. Would I like to delete my account? Yes. Is the trade-off worth it for me to stay? Also yes.

We split an account between 4 households, paying a quarter each. When the crackdown happened, 2 including my house cancelled and the 3rd paid for the extra user. So they halved their users from our account, but increased revenue anyway. Seems like a win for them.

No Cairns is not a high risk area for bush fires (what we call wildfires). The heat this year might be horrible but fires shouldn’t be an issue that far into the tropics on the coastline
