Like I said… even with my home country selected, there’s a couple of sites I can’t access

I do ALL my Internet activity via a VPN. Why? No particular reason, other than I like privacy
Er… maybe? First I’ve heard of one. I just assumed it’s the IP addresses that are blocked - I can’t even load the site even with a home-country VPN connected
Sadly, it’s food delivery I’ve had to add exceptions for :(
Maybe I’ve just had bad luck. I had an issue where my second monitor wasn’t being detected at all in Linux, but was fine in Windows. There was a fix, fortunately someone in a forum had the same issue, but it was a command line fix. And IIRC it wasn’t permanent either - I think I had to retype it on reboot.
I also have a 3 button mouse with the middle button set to double click in Windows. There was no linux driver for it. I’m sure its possible to get it working, but quite how, I’ve no idea.
Basically I’ve installed various flavours of Linux maybe 5 times, and each time had to abort and go back to windows after a day or two because I couldn’t find how to fix a particular issue.
For me, I’ve been using Windows for so long that when I want to change something, there’ll be a UI for it somewhere. In Linux, you have to learn a bunch of text commands and modifiers. And if you don’t already know what they are, you don’t know what to search for to find them.
One of these days I’ll learn out of necessity. Until then, Windows it just too convenient
Exactly. My last job was great - had a 9:15 start which was more or less the perfect time when bussing in
Kids have to get to and from school
Thing is its limited by geography. If I can’t physically get to the job in under 30mins, then I can’t get to the job on time, ever. Don’t have kids, folks, unless you really actually want them. Don’t just do it because you’re ‘at that stage in life’
My favourite one was the UK HQ of Otis, a company that makes elevators and escalators. Their HQ was in Reading, pronounced redding, so they’d answer the phone saying “hello, Otis Reading”
The way I heard it was these American rich kids would do tours of Europe. When they got to Italy they encountered pasta for the first time, and thought it was absolutely the best coolest food ever. “Macaroni” became their word for cool/lit/fire according to your age and preference
Another TIL right here
That last line is an interesting issue. Some religious folk have to believe being gay is 100% a choice, otherwise it implies God either doesn’t mind, or does, but makes mistakes / has no control over it.
The mental hoops some folk have to jump through.
They’re borderline works of genius, some of them

2·3 months agoIt’s so well produced, you’ll enjoy the watch. But a summary is that Rogan has formed a deluded cult around him, making the world an incrementally worse place
It’s got its moments, but the landlady character… her line delivery and the way characters react to them is so odd, like the director truly believes everything she says is hilarious, but… its really not at all
Oh, it’s great. Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror’s creator) called it the best show of all time, with honorable mentions to Deadwood and The Shield (which I didn’t rate much)
Pluto in the UK is unwatchable, last time I checked. Feels like a 3 min ad break every 6 minutes or so

Not for me it doesn’t. I don’t believe it can detect you’re using a VPN, I just think it’s blocked all the IP addresses used by my provider
