Most doors that are controlled for handicap accessability are control using a hydraulic cylinder that costs hundreds of dollars, and not a motor. Any motorized doors cost way way more than that.
I had the same thought when I was younger about putting generators attached to a bouy in the ocean, which has waves constantly and would generate power all day. Just like your door idea, it would work and would make power, but it wouldnt turn a profit. Its too expensive for the output you would get in return. So… yeah… we are gonna continue to burn fossil fuels for now cause its the cheapest… once we deplete enough of them that it gets more expensive than something else, we will switch to that until we destroy the world, or skynet takes over and we become the next power source.
Ok, as an “arms bearer,” my answer is this. The laws allowing us to bear arms were written when those arms were equivalent or close to the top military technology. 100 armed civilians while untrained, would be similarly equppied to 100 soldiers. These days if 100 armed civilians tried to act in a coordinated armed effort against our government, it would only be a very short matter of time before they were declared terrorist and overwhelmed by billions of dollars of military hardware and equipment they have no way of competing with. That is of course with the exception of jan 6th where said coordinated attack was coordinated by trump, and therefore allowed to happen.
That all being said, I am an “arms bearer” because I used to hunt, and was never one to claim I had guns to possibly overthrow our corrupt as hell government.

I have called the police 5 times in my life. Once when someone broke into my car, once when someone broke into my home. Twice when someone was illegally dumping trash on the side of the road, and once qhen a scammer intercepted an 18,000 dollar check. In the 3 cases of theft/B&E i was told there was nothing they could do and given a paper record of what happened to give to my insurance. In the cases of illegal dumping(I was following the people and providing liscense plate number) i was told “we dont handle that, call the county and they will come clean it up”
The police, at least in my area, are fucking worthless. They exist solely to give tickets and fines, while do little to nothing to acrually combat crime or enforce law.

Im already pretty much there. Lemmy is pretty much the last place I “surf the internet.” Outside of here I only use the internet for work purposes. It is absolutely dead as source of entertainment or media.

The elite have always been vampires living on the blood of us peons… it feels new to us because we are living it now, but history shows its been this way a long time, and it was probably the same in prerecorded history too… we, as humans tend to suck…
To be fair, i do the same thing, but its because I truly have no money… fml

Do you go to college to become an assassin? How does one become an assassin without first assassinating someone? This is a real “chicken or the egg” type of situation…
You ever see the back of a twenty dollar bill… on weed? Oh, there’s some crazy shit, man
Im ignoring the entire world currently…
One of us is drunk and not making sense… im not 100% sure, but im leaning toward you…

But it could be a bigger cash cow if we didnt have to pay people money. Better to apply for some h1-b visas and get some proper slaves like we had back in the day.

Sorry… I know that is not the answer you were looking for, but it felt right, and sometimes you just have to go where your heart leads you.

WITH FIRE!!!

Oh I agree 100%. The technology doesnt suck, It is fantastic beyond my wildest dreams as a young lad. What we are capable of doing now is amazing.
My complaints are with “subscriptions” and “accounts” to that technology. When I die, my accounts and subscriptions are non transferable. Meaning my $XX,000.00 dollar audible account with over 1000 audiobooks i bought and paid for dies with me. I now pay a yearly/monthly fee to use things like excell(which hasnt changed much) that i used to be able to buy and use indefinitely for 50 dollars.
The technology is amazing. The greedy corporate overlords are the problem.

Yeah, it was good times back then. Now the technlology has vastly exceeded our wildest dreams, yet it is under the control of greedy mega corporations, resulting in the most expensive shitty experience we have experienced so far.
🤔 sounds like you had a pretty smart professor if he walked around displaying the answers to his quiz…
I get that, why RIP Aziz Ansari comment woth it?
There is a fire in my belly when I eat?
