I’ve had times where I was going through my code and the docs code step by step to see where they logically differed and found that I was doing all the same things, but my code didn’t work and copy-pasting their code did. Make it make sense!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is the number of Lemmy users increasing?English
4·8 months agoHmm, I already had that enabled. I see it now on your comments, but not on other people’s posts even if I upvote them and for people like The_Picard_Maneuver that I know I’ve upvoted in the past. I guess it’s just buggy.

Ironically, I think the original bug would fall under the category of a glitch because it would have been a hardware failure, rather than a software issue.
Why don’t people trust Signal?
Why do people suddenly have a problem with this sort of thing? Art has always used exaggerations and tropes to convey things to the viewer more effectively than being realistic would. Lasers don’t actually make solid beams of light in the air, evil people don’t generally have red eyes or maniacal laughs, and female skeletons don’t really have eyelashes and bows. Hell, most women don’t even wear bows anymore.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If I snapped you back in time 650 years right this very second, how would you use your current knowledge to succeed?English
1·1 year agoMy point was that using the Sun, Earth, or really any object as a reference is arbitrary and the “same position” at two different points in time is completely undefined.

31·1 year agoActually 🤓, position and velocity are relative, so that’s a nonsensical statement without defining a reference object for the Earth’s position. If we’re not assuming you end up safely on dry land, you could just as easily end up light-years away as wherever you were relative to the sun.
This comment deserves its own meme.

Why did you self censor by saying “dot”?
Maybe, but there’s also a more long-term force in the other direction. Bringing content from other platforms to Lemmy means that Lemmy has more content and people are less likely to go elsewhere to get their fill. If the best of Reddit is available on Lemmy, why bother going to Reddit? It’s the same thing as how Reddit used to have lots of Twitter screenshots on it back when Twitter was worth screenshotting. The people taking the screenshots likely use both anyway and wouldn’t stop if they weren’t allowed to post Reddit stuff here.
A screenshot doesn’t give them traffic. A link does.

It bugs me more when people (usually family) just randomly start filming me when I’m trying to enjoy a moment. It makes me feel awkward and uncomfortable and totally kills the vibe. Apparently not everyone minds being randomly filmed and posted who knows where…?
