MSN chatrooms for me! Harry Potter roleplay sounded like a good time for <10-year-old me. Dobby got a little more than just a sock that day…
I always liked modified crit rules for that reason. Max damage+rolled damage just feels better.
But of course, any advantage the players get, the monsters get as well.
“Split” the party if this happens again. They should stand in place if they aren’t grouped with the character you’re currently in control of.
The friend group tried to play D&D over discord and it was like pulling teeth to get everyone online at the same time. I typically like having multiple players in games like this because it makes it more fun to actually play AS the character because we all have different motives/mindsets.
I’m doing a solo campaign first while I’m impatient, then I’ll do a group campaign when everyone can actually get together.
Hell, I wish they’d release a standalone client for custom campaigns. D:OS2 did a pretty good job with it, but it’s not on 5E ruleset.
Every other tool I’ve tried to use for 5E online campaigns is clunky. They have the groundwork and a ton of available assets already there.
