Yeah, a uni I went to had a sexual assault course everyone had to take, and the thing that stuck out was that the statistics on women were horrible, but the statistics on men being raped was not statistically far behind. It was something awful like three men in a classroom of 30 would have been victims of rape. On average.

The worst part is that a friend of a friend was actually held down and raped in a hotel by three people in the hallway. But he was so scared of being perceived as gay, he refused to talk to the police, his family, or get PEP for possible STD exposure. Men don’t feel like they can come forward for male rape because they will be perceived as gay, and they won’t report being raped by women because it’s seen as being weak. Look at the games that took risks like Lethal Company or Elite Dangerous. You don’t have to appeal to everyone. You have to tell a story well, and the gameplay should be unique and interesting. Larian understood that with Divinity 2, and made improvements to both story and gameplay in BG3.

I feel way better about Walz. Strong debate performance even if it isn’t his forte. The ending where Vance got his leg in the beartrap of Jan 6 and could not answer why Mike Pence was not on stage instead of him (because Mike Pence is not a suck up) was shocking to see. I also chuckled when Vance basically argued to Walz that the Infrastructure act and the inflation reduction act were good things. No shit shirlock, that’s why Biden-Harris implemented them. It brought back American jobs and have rekindled diminished, rust belt states with new factories and infrastructure.

Vance came across as kinda whiny and petulant, Walz made strong points and really defined policy specifics.

Next debate, CBS needs to do way more aggressive fact-checking. ABC had way better fact-checking, but it still could have been way better. Vance walked all over CBS with his lying and taking credit for Biden and Obama administration Ws.

They don’t really make much of a difference, imo. There are wearable products out there that can add a texture difference, but they are incompatible with condoms if you are trying to reduce the risk of STDs.

GaaS has made gaming so boring. Fun for like, two months. But with no story and tons of nerfs, they quickly become rather samey feeling. I miss the Halo 2 days where games had a story. Or genuine innovation, like Rocket league, and its ability to be cross platform. That was GaaS done right, until Epic bought them and fucked it all up.

Really depends on where you go! Certain parts feel safer, other parts feel less safe (or less comfortable to walk through safely). I’m not going to name names, as I’ve only been to various countries for a bit at a time, it would be unfair to pass judgement on entire nations based off a small experience.

The public transit is usually a cut above. Some of the driving feels dangerous. The food prices are somewhat expensive, but the food is generally less UPF-laced.

The more relaxed culture around nudity is refreshing. The lack of large, wild parks is a bit disappointing (or perhaps we missed these entirely), but various nations seem to be catching on to rewilding. The history is fascinating, and europeans generally think much more long-term than Americans, but the bad blood also runs deep, which is a little worrying. I’m glad the EU keeps everyone together.

Overall, it’s fun to visit, it generally feels safe, cultured, and the transit is very great, particularly the train systems. It has it’s problems just like other places in Africa, North America, and Central America.

If I had to live in a non-english speaking country, I’d probably pick Spain. Wonderful people, great transit, a relaxed culture, and excellent food, though France and Germany give Spain a run for their money on several of these points.

Yeah, as the other person said, lots of vote splitting because there were several good democrats and people assume the good ones will always win the primaries, so they don’t vote. This has hosed us in the past. We could really use ranked choice voting and better classes that teach students why voting is so important.

Also, the nominative determinism is strong- Upthegrove has a deep knowledge of the field (heh), and has strong endorsements from great orgs like the Sierra Club. We’d be lucky to have him!

Don’t forget the meta where a new paid DLC weapon is super unbalanced and great for two weeks until the devs nerf it into the ground and everyone goes back to the default weapons that are just ok.

Russia has kinda shitty land afaik. Not a ton of resources either, iirc. I believe a decent chunk of it is tagia forests and (soon to be) swampy permafrost zone. There was a book I read called “Domesticated” that permanently changed my view on pets. The book had chapters broken out by animal and also had before/after pictures of certain animals from a century ago vs what we have now, after the influencer puppymills and such got their hands on them/inbred them to shit.

We have hideously deformed some animals that used to look much, much different a century ago, and those animals now pay a steep price in pain and life expectancy.

Neither was great, as written about by David K. Johnson in The Lavender Scare: The Cold War Persecution of Gays and Lesbians in the Federal Government.
