I hear ya. I am getting real tired of the paywalls and the rent seeking in something I paid for. It used to be confined to free to play games but it has gradually started to creep into fully paid AAA stuff now and that’s just unacceptable to me.

Why do people gamble? Because that’s what this is.
The companies don’t even care about the average player. They are trying to hook rich people with more money then sense, aka whales.
A long time ago the industry realized an extremely small percent blows way more money than all the others combined.
If you ever played a game with any kind of monitization and asked yourself why everything is $40 and how the average player can afford it, this is why.

9·1 year agoI just use the heroic/legendary alternative launcher for any single player games I actually want to play from egs. It’s open source and gives epic less footprint on my machine.
Unfortunately if you want to do anything multiplayer then you need the real client.

It’s so they can print the tracking dots.

201·2 years agoI work for a major data aggregator of public records, which uses a lot of the same techniques the these ad places use to profile people.
You would be astounded by the sheer amount of information we have on individual people from addresses, hard pii such as criminal and finance records and your ssn if in the USA, who your neighbors and family are, your assets such as housing/vehicles etc, and even your individual devices like your phone.

On top of that, the ones around here are time limited (growing season only; weekends only; etc).

28·2 years agoThe problem in the states is that many of the local grocery stores went out of business when wally world rolled into town.








Pretty sure a used engagement ring is worse than lab grown in the eyes of the unwashed masses.
