What a fucking shitshow. Thank God for Linux.

Brother, to him that’s a compliment.

Yes. If the sun was orange, the light would be orange, and everything white would be orange.
The fact that your friend believes the sun was replaced by a giant LED is a sign they should not be your friend anymore

They’re being paid above market value for their homes. And who knows what other kinds of pressure they’re facing.

Also there are talks of re-opening old coal electric power plants to feed these data centers.

Here’s one example:
There’s also Itasca in Illinois
I bet you can find more

Motherfuckers have been buying people out of their homes, emptying entire neighborhoods just to get access to land near power plants and near water sources to build their AI data centers, they’ve been polluting drinking water sources and siphoning the electricity of entire towns, and polluting like crazy, and they’re affraid society might not accept their useless AI porn generating bullshit? Because let’s face it, that’s what it’s mostly used for.

I just use the virtual machine manager. I think it works great.

I was using Linux when I was in school from 2000-2008. Used Linux for a while during the Windows Vista period then switched to Windows 7 and eventually Windows 10. But I always had a dual-boot scenario on my PC. Now with Win 11, I didn’t want that malware on my system. Plus now Steam and Proton can allow me to play my games like it was nothing so I went full Linux. Never been happier. Kubuntu is working awesome for me. Though I might switch to Endeavour OS at some point. I’m not sure yet. I’m so used to Debian, I don’t know if I want to learn a whole new software management system.

Right now I’m running Win 10 through QEMU/KVM to run printing software to print photos properly on my fancy Canon inkjet printer. I can’t for the life of me find a software that will print borderless 4"x6" photos properly. Or even just print images on paper!
I’m using Kubuntu 24.04 btw.

Oh wow! Has. It ben that long already? In 2008 I had just graduated from software engineering and started my first career job. It took me months before I found a job because of the economic crash. And when I found one, the pay was shit. Cost of living wasn’t as high though so it was ok.

Yeah, same with Canada. We have about 430 billion in US debt. Admittedly not as much as Europe, but still a big chunk. And it was Carney that suggested other countries consider dumping this debt if tarifs went out of control.

For desktop apps you’ll be fine for the most part. But if you need to install a module for your hardware or some other system software it gets more complicated.

Ah sorry. I was referring to Bazzite.

I tend to prefer flatpak over snaps myself. Depends for what.

It’s not that they can’t be installed. But that the process is highly technical for newbies.

It’s lemmy.ml Consider that a badge of honor.

I have Xcom enemy unknown.
It’s not quite the same. It’s a bit of a cross between Xcom and Mario Rabbids.
