where once I dedicated myself to upsetting dipshits on the internet, I now prioritize upsetting dipshits in government.

please do be warned, I’m still very good at upsetting dipshits on the internet. if you’re here because you’re upset, well… oops.

  • The Framework 12 lists “MPP 2.0 and USI 2.0 stylus support”, so you can use other pens with it, I think. Your stylus won’t be repairable, but perhaps if you complain at Framework loudly enough they might eventually release a higher quality stylus themselves.

If it’s a limitation of the machine’s hardware/the protocol they support, complain at them for that instead. I’m not an artist so I don’t actually find myself needing/using a pen often, thus I don’t know whether that means it has good or bad pen support, but it certainly sounds like it supports SPs.

  • every now and again, I fantasize about living in the far north of Canada with fiber internet and a warm cabin miles away from the nearest living soul.

Then I remember reality, where I am poor, gay, disabled, American, and probably going to die here either to an Iranian-linked terror attack or my own increasingly christofascist government.

I don’t necessarily hate everybody, but I don’t go out of my way to interact with others that much already and over the past couple years I’ve felt far less inclined to, both online and in real life. Nowadays I mostly just interact with pets, family, and the people I have to interact with to earn money. Lemmy’s a nice, impersonal social outlet. People in person aren’t necessarily more trustworthy, the veneer of civility is just thicker.

  • Sure, but you said intolerance for any non-Linux OS, and that’s just simply not true as there are several non-Linux OS’s we love. If you were to say Lemmy is intolerant specifically of Windows, that would be more accurate, but I’m also aware of at least one subset of die-hard Windows aficionados on Lemmy who vehemently hate Linux. Definitely a minority, but they’re there.

Also, the db0 instance is pro-AI as I recall, so anyone who’s keen on that sort of thing is (to my knowledge) welcome there.

being the “errrrrrm, ackshually, you just committed a logical fallacy 🤓” dweeb in response to someone else being questioned whether they’re a fascist sympathizer, when that doesn’t actually invalidate what I said at all, when I wasn’t even talking to you – that’s an extraordinary kind of self-own, you do know that, right?

I’m gonna engage with fascists and fascist sympathizers on the same level that they engage in good-faith debate in – that is to say, on whatever level I want to at any given moment in time. If they aren’t one, let them explain what innocent ideas they’ve expressed that are so poorly received, that have lead them to believe Lemmy is “lacking tolerance and acceptance” – we’ve got entire instances dedicated to porn, anarchists, AI lovers, tankies, trans people, furries, the French – I’m very eager to hear what could possibly be Too Spicy For Lemmy that is not something along the lines of “I want to gas undesirables” or trending towards that direction.

I assure you, the enshittification of music streaming services is already here. Even before Spotify went completely to shit there were some things that just couldn’t be found on the platform, and others still that I used to listen to suddenly becoming unavailable.

I, and a lot of other people, pirate music now because (among other reasons) having a hard drive full of MP3s or FLACs is something no corporation can arbitrarily decide to take away from you at any time.

The last game I pirated was Driver: San Francisco a couple years ago, because you couldn’t (still can’t? maybe?) buy it anywhere except for like, second-hand physical media, and I am not going through that hassle. I can’t even remember the game I last pirated before that (Probably Sims 4, because fuck EA and fuck that laundry list of DLC – but I can’t be sure).

Music, movies, and TV shows, though? Oh yeah, baby, that’s a weekly activity now. Netflix I dumped many years ago when the fracturing of content to twenty different streaming services happened, and Spotify I dumped just this last year for a few different reasons (the CEO donating to AI weapons programs, introducing a fuckass AI DJ, ICE ads, getting fed up with songs I either can’t find or can find but aren’t available in my region, or could listen to and enjoyed and then having them suddenly become unavailable, etc…)

I’m sure, someday, Steam will enshittify. Probably shortly after Gabe dies – and it will be a dark day for me and millions of gamers worldwide. But for now, I’m more than happy to let Gabe empty my wallet with sales and convenience, because the gettin’s been good for a couple decades and will likely remain so for another couple. I can’t say the same for music, movies, and TV; I don’t know if I’ll ever end up paying for them again unless the distributors involved sort their shit out.
