  • The more I travel (37 countries on four continents) the more I realize everyone is the same. For me, it’s like a mini-version of the overview effect.

Everyone has a hand wrap (pita, taco, wrap, sandwich).

Everyone has their customs that bleed into public life (religious, secular, religious-cum-secular)

Everyone has to take care of children

    Everyone has a grocery store

Everyone likes to drink a hot liquid out of a mug. Everyone likes to drink a cold liquid out of a glass

Everyone has their pockets of disengaged youth who lash out at society, “normalcy” and the status quo

it’s not a weird, scary world. We are all people. We all live here. The content of my pita might be different from what’s in your taco, but it’s basically the same thing. The difference between my town and one a few kilometers away is not that much larger than one on the other side of the world. We are all people living our lives.

  • Similar to how the US started enforcing fines for late arrivals of airplanes. So the airlines just extended the “duration” of their flights to include the expected delays and now they’re “99.9% on time”. You can see this in action when the pilot says “well we’re waiting for something before we leave. It’ll be another 15 minutes but we’ll still get you there on time.”

    1. Touch zone on the back arrow of the media viewer is too small and I have to get out my electron microscope every time I want to go back to list view
    2. Media viewer doesn’t support touch functions like double tap to zoom
    3. i want to mark as read on scroll in the c/all view (or really any community list view
    4. When writing comments, there are some inconsistencies in capitalization of the first word (see the I in #3 that wasn’t capitalized)
    5. Just noticed a bug when creating list items. Create an item, hit the carriage return to create a new item. Tap delete. The list number is removed but the cursor is in a sub item of the previous list item. Tap delete again. The first list element is deleted and your text is moved out of the list

These are rather nitpicky items. I use Blorp every day and like it more than Voyager, Arctic and Mlem

  • A linear story is split in two parts.

The black and white sections explain Leonard’s backstory and show that he’s willing to lie to himself to be happy just like his wife was willing to lie to him because she was unhappy.

The color section is revealing the consequences of Teddy using Leonard, but also Leonard’s willingness to lie to himself.

The special edition DVD had it recut in a linear fashion. It works both ways… linear is a standard detective story without much depth. Recut, it’s a compelling story about Truth and consequences
