Why is Linux Nihilism?
Recently switched to NixOS.
My current install is around 1 year old.
Problems I had were because of software not being on the latest version, not updates. Things just work on Arch for me. Only thing that ever broke was Xorg because of Nvidia drivers but that’s pretty easy fix.
Arch based distros are pretty stable in my experience. I actually had much more problems on distros like Debian and PopOs than Arch.
And that’s the point of configuring.
It’s about companies that are against piracy for games they don’t sell anymore and don’t provide a way to play them. If they gave us a way to play them piracy wouldn’t be only option.
But even new games can have similar problem because of the price. Main reason why I don’t have any current gen console is because I need to pay hundreds of $ for it plus 80$ per game (they cost that much in my country). That’s insane in my opinion. Two years ago I got second hand moded Wii with 200 games and paid it less than I would pay for just 1 AAA game. I can’t afford (or justify) spending so much money on games when emulation exists.
Ricing is fun, there is no point in stopping.
This is main reason why I don’t own any current gen console. Even those consoles that I have are bought second hand because I don’t want to support them in any way.
One thing I want to add is that all those companies are fighting against piracy of old games but don’t provide a way to play them on modern hardware. Mods are only way to play many old games (unless you want to pay hundreds od dollars for a second hand copy).
That’s why I only buy consoles that aren’t supported anymore and mod them, it’s just better and cheaper.
I never expected to see something written in any language from Balkans here, nice.
You can make it fancy and pretty.
They use Windows but to be fair there are Windows users who use CLI (I have one friend who does).
It depends, on tiling WM for example tiling is automatic.
Few days ago I was in meeting with two friend, we did something for school, and my screen was shared. At one point I had to type something in Vim so I opened a terminal. They were shocked, confused and said something like “we aren’t hackers” (and we are on IT department). More people should know about beauty of CLI.
I plan to start using Nextcloud, switch to XMonad and optimize my workflow a bit.
Nix is really cool to me but I can’t get all benefits of using it so I’m sticking to Arch based distros.
Where’s my boy Green Mage?
