  • I’m also suspicious that the ransonware attack had anything to do with AI, but I didn’t want to say so because going against the common consensus in threads like this gets me downvoted, so I’d rather not say it if people aren’t going to consider it (and then agree or disagree). heh

Then again, as a user of emdashes[1] — I suppose I’m under suspucion of being an LLM as well. ;-)

Would you like me to compose responses to any other comments in this thread?[2]

    1. Thanks to wincompose software since I’m a Windows dude, but on Linux I’d use the compose key ↩︎

    2. /s not needed I hope hehe ↩︎

  • Anarchism is the solution.

Mmmm, I’m sorry to see this getting upvotes. Anarchism is great in theory, but the entire point of a government is to protect the weak, take from those that can afford and provide social safety nets for those who cannot.

Even with our broken democracy, a lot of that still works, even though a lot more is broken.

The solution to our broken democracy is not a lack of government completely.

People bitch about government bloat and inefficiency, but you know what’s worse? Corporations with unfettered ability to maximise profit even more than they do now. The shitty limited regulations we have now? Gone in anarchy.

Anarchy is rule by the strongest.

It’d be great if we lived in some Star Trek future where everyone cooperated. But we don’t. I wish anarchy worked.

  • Well, kiddo, here’s the thing. I’m already firmly aware of how current vaccines work, and that they target specific viruses and bacteria. So your attempt to bring facts into the conversation was useless for me. I already know them.

And I already know something you don’t: That has nothing to do with what’s presented in this article.

So let me bring the salient part of the article to your attention:

Their approach marks a “radical departure” from the way vaccines have been designed for more than 200 years, they say.

Experts in the field said the study was “really exciting” despite being at an early stage and could be a “major step forward”.

Current vaccines train the body to fight one single infection. A measles vaccine protects against only measles and a chickenpox vaccine protects against only chickenpox.

This is how immunisation has worked since Edward Jenner pioneered vaccines in the late 18th Century.

The approach described in the journal Science does not train the immune system. Instead it mimics the way immune cells communicate with each other.

It is given as a nasal spray and leaves white blood cells in our lungs – called macrophages – on “amber alert” and ready to jump into action no matter what infection tries to get in.

The effect lasted for around three months in animal experiments.

So in other words, IF THIS WORKS, it does not work in the same way that you bring up, meaning your “fact” is USELESS and OFF-TOPIC, and had you spent two minutes of your time BOTHERING to read the article, you would have prevented yourself from looking like a stupid mothingfucking dumbass.

But no. Congrats, you stupid motherfucking dumbass, you not only look stupid, but you were stupidly rude about it on TOP of that.

    Wow.

    What a spectacular failure.

When you read the article, do let us know if you deign to grace us with more facts. We might honestly find them interesting. But until you do, know that you are WRONG and RUDE and please shut the hell up.

  • The point is that nothing you said had anything to do with the article, so if you don’t want to fucking read the article before you spout off, it is YOU who should piss off.

That being said, once you do read the article, perhaps I would love to learn what relevant facts you have. But until then, you’re the asshole barging into the coffee shop MAKE ME A COFFEE NOW I DON’T CARE ABOUT ANYONE ELSE. Yeah, well, there’s a fuckin’ line here, man. Terrible analogy, but the point is that it is you who started off rude by commenting without bothering to read.

I notice that you were told you should read the article WELL before you replied to that person, so you already knew you should have read the article before being rude to them. Wow.

  • My investigation into Alpha School also reveals that the massive amounts of data the company collects on students, including videos of them, is stored in a Google Drive folder that anyone with the link—even if they’ve left the company, or if it was sent to them—could access. In turn, that sensitive material is viewed by more Alpha School employees than students and parents may realize.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I’m gonna stop you right there with a huge huge WHAT the FUCK. That is an incredible decision to have made. Stunning.

I saw that Alpha School maintains a spreadsheet which contains a list of student names, their grade, and an archive of their recordings which shows what’s happening on their screen, their remote tutor, and a video of the student taken via their webcam. This spreadsheet is not only available to anyone at the company, but is also shared in such a way that anyone on the internet who has the link can access the spreadsheet and the videos of students.

“If I wanted to, I could go there and just watch students. Anybody who worked in this capacity could watch the videos of students working on their laptops,” one Alpha School employee told me. “So many hours of just students’ faces […] I’m not sure parents understand exactly what’s going on with that data […] I don’t think that this is clearly communicated, because I’m sure there’d be a lot more opt outs if it was.”

Wonder how many pedos work for the company.
