Are you a hobbit? Cause that’s a dagger/knife.
The opening is always a bit naturally DDOS’d. It’ll smooth out.
If a caterpillar can do it, I think a magical, sapient ice cube can.

I’ve never really conflated the two. Though the bitter irony of the modern day Edison abusing the name is not lost on me.
This is not a new complaint. It’s been around for decades.
Including the people that make comics like the above.
It’s so annoying to see this shit. Every person who complains about how stale movie releases are only ever goes to see what the ads on tv/youtube tell them to, then whine about their own choice while excellent indie movies eke by or fail outright. They reinforce the problem they complain about with zero sense of hypocrisy.

This is the more typical process, ime.
It’s not a competition and you’re being a jerk.

The fact your seeking feedback suggests no, but it was certainly a bad move, both as a DM and as an uncle. Punishing anyone, though especially children, without explaining why is mean. You have a responsibility to clearly communicate problems with others as an authority figure at the table and in their life. I don’t necessarily think the punishment was unreasonable, but if it’s not explained to them, it just comes across as arbitrary and vindictive.
Imo, the best way to handle issues like that is to set the rules and consequences, making them clear to everyone, and to be consistent in their application. Letting people off or being vindictive will just exacerbate things.

Ech@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.world•Revealed: Thousands of UK university students caught cheating using AIEnglish5·29 days agoEveryone should care about the efficacy of the education system. It’s the foundation of a useful society, and essential for its betterment. This method of cheating and its rate of adoption is a major blow to a whole generation of students that will learn to have others think for them instead of leaning to think for themselves.

Ech@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.world•Revealed: Thousands of UK university students caught cheating using AIEnglish12·29 days agoIt’s absolutely cheating - it’s plagiarism. It’s no different in that regard than copying a paper found online, or having someone else write the paper for you. It’s also a major self-own - these students have likely one opportunity to better themselves through higher education, and are trashing that opportunity with this shit.
I do agree that institutions need to adapt. Edit history is an interesting idea, though probably easy to work around. Imo, direct teacher-student interfacing would be the most foolproof, but also incredibly taxing on time and effort for teachers. It would necessitate pretty substantial changes to current practices.
See ya on the other side.
