My german parents tend to eat sausage with pickles and onions. Tell me where you are from and i tell you which of your typical national food is gross.

dinosaurs were all kinds of -blooded, but t-rex was probably fully warm blooded, like birds. Other, especially “older” ones were cold blooded.
Very interesting. Were T-Rex really warm blooded, i thought that was a trait dinosaurs did not have at all and an advantage e.g. mammals had, allowing us to adapt better to the shifting climate?

I guess everyone understands that you are talking about US phds, so no worries :)
But yeah, doing your PhD in europe may not be simpler (we have to give lectures, organize seminars etc.) but considering that you get a good pay for your research as well, it is definitely a good alternative to going directly in the industry. However, doing your phd during your masters thesis or even starting without a masters degree is very uncommon, so you usually need more time to get it.
This all sounds so weird coming from germany since here you do you bachelors degree, then your masters degree and then optionally your PhD. While the usefullness of the PhD and its duration vary between subjects (in IT it takes 3-5 years and is not really worth it money-wise if you go in the industry afterwards, while in medicine it can be done in a year or even less and is basically necessary). Also while you do your PhD you are usually employed by the government (since universities are public institutions) and paid well. A PhD earns you social prestige and prestige in the industry since - besides in medicine - nearly no one has one.

Ruling Javascript and Python programmers out would be more sane imho. Java sucks, but at least its typed and doesn’t implement weird semantics.
1411·2 years agoI swear to god, companies are nowadays just picking the solution with the most buzzwords. Any compiler engineering student knows how to write a transpiler from one language to another, while getting this right is a cumbersome task, it still completly automated afterwards. Just hire a few compiler engineering phds and the job is done in at least half a year.

The thing my mother is eating in the picture is exactly what you described (the bread is on the table). I called it salad dressing as a synonym for the vinegar and oil “sauce”, since some herbs are in there as well.
Lumpensuppe is something different here. Its basically goulash soup with either sauerkraut or bacon and cream and bell pepper.
