If you’re getting gcc errors it sounds like the package you’re trying to install contains some c/c++ stuff that needs compiling.
A lot of python packages that rely on things written in c/c++ ship those precompiled, which might account for why it feels easier for you.
Yeah, I just moved our linting/format checking pipeline to ruff and it’s been painless and fast.

7·4 months agoI think the majority consensus is that none of the Gospels were written by contemporaries of Jesus, and they were edited and changed up to 200 years after his death.
