How much time do you spend gaming a day?
How much time do you spend gaming a day?
I’m pretty sure he’s talking about doing literally nothing, as opposed to not working.
I have so many of these blocked lol.
I blocked so many meme communities which helped my ALL feed look better, but then it was filled with political shit. The problem is, any time something controversial happens regarding someone the broader community doesn’t like (elon musk, trump, republicans in general), you have thread after thread after thread of this shit popping up. I don’t care to hear why republican bad, because I already know republican bad. I’m an intellectually curious being with better things to do with my time than hear about the latest political thing.
And then finally as you said, the technology communites can be a bit tiresome, like when there’s a post about every single time a frickin’ library updates.

Pretty much the only stuff I unsubscribe to is tech or politics subs
Same, same.
The first language I tried to learn as a kid was Batch scripting…
(edit: and then some VBScript along the way! Eventually worked my way to C++ though)
Great findings - as someone with ADHD I feel like I’ve noticed this correlation on a personal level and glad to see there is research to back it up.
Superhero stuff is awesome if you’re younger than 17. At some point you’ve got to grow up though.
Game consumers have little say now that it has gone mainstream. “Normies” are content buying the latest, hottest games and dropping them for the next latest, hottest games in an endless loop. It’s disappointing to witness and I’m not even a gamer.

Am perfectly fine cutting that behaviour out of my life and my social circle.
This sentence feels so performative and cringey, and yet it still must be said aloud because even my ex-friend to this day defends a similarly shitty guy with a well-documented pattern of abuse.
I see what you’re saying, I think that other commenters are misinterpreting what it is that you are trying to say. I certainly was.
Some think it’s a radical approach, but I don’t see it that way. For all its capabilities, the Internet isn’t real and neither are the relationships we have with people on numerous sites that form its social aspect. Thus, there’s really little logic in giving people second chances, wasting time, attention and effort for them, trying to get through their attitudes and suffering to reach “real” them.
You’re absolutely correct.
I think that saying that someone “failed at life” is a bit stupid because, they would do exactly what you recommend in your own comment; they would give friends & family a second chance:
Regardless of who I cut out though, there is ALWAYS room to come back if they change and grow up.
I’m still hoping my mom will before she passes… : /
Maybe you see things differently, but perhaps there is something more interesting and constructive you could say than: “You both failed at life.”
Of course, arguing online is pretty fun… haha! :)
Changing the algorithm would probably be implemented as a version update which all instances would eventually need to adopt, or be left behind in features & security patches.
Allowing people to game your algorithm to keep their content higher is not a good thing. It made reddit unbearable (thankfully we have Local feed on Lemmy), twitter, etc. It is why YouTube (as far as genuinely informative videos go) is circling the drain.
And yet, by the numbers, it is basically the fediverse (like literally ~88% of active users are on mastodon!).
I guess it must not be as bad as you make it out to be then?
What’s moronic is advocating for the enshittification of a platform.
Yea, I don’t want to sound like I’m arguing here, but there is a generally negative vibe that is being replicated here on lemmy as it was on reddit:
The toxicity is already here when you browse “All.” I’ve just blocked most of the offending communities for a better experience. The list grows longer every day… but that’s just my opinion. I think we can all agree that browsing “All” is like playing mental health on nightmare mode.
There is a lot of toxicity that I don’t want here…
It already is… :(
Tbf I can’t think of any instance where Marques has click baited.

This is what parasocial relationships do to you…
Yes you heard that right. Leftists, known for their aggressive fight for your rights, are akshually worse than conservatives! What a smart comment.
