  • I got spanked and even hit a time or two as a kid.

I turned out okay considering. Had kids and thought a spanking or two wasn’t bad considering what i went though so that’s the stance i took. Thankfully we had ip cams instead of video baby monitors when they were babies. $90 vs $350 at the time so that’s what we did. I set them up with my Synology to record continuously.

I watched a monster overreact to a common child reaction. [Not justifying just explaining (I was tired and thus had a short fuse as happens at times with young kids)] Thankfully two things had happened. (1) I had the IP camera recording everything that happened, (2) I wanted to see why my kid was acting up and make sure I was in the “right” to spank her. Spoiler, I was not. I saw an angry man react to a kid who didn’t want to do something.

I cried, because I was my father when I was punished unjustly as a kid. (There were times I actually was a shit head and it was warranted, but i also remember plenty of times it was not) That morning with my 2 year old it was not. Because of that day I no longer fell into the Spanking is okay for me group.

Don’t get me wrong I know there are times it can be helpful but I realized at that moment I was not a good judge of when those times were. This means I was no longer going to do it. That was me but I don’t judge other who only spank.

  • There may be a much better way to do this but I use folder binding instead of volumes. What I usually do is map another folder structure for both sonarr and whatever DL client I am using.

So for example I do some kind of /mnt/docker/download. This is mapped in the containers as the directory as well as the path on my system.

    • v /mnt/docker/download:/mnt/docker:download

I have this extra line in all containers that need access to the downloaded files. Then in my download client I change the default directory that it downloads to from /data to this /mnt/docker/download. Then in Sonarr/Radarr I tell it that this is the download directory. This then becomes a directory that they all have access to and can then use without error or without extra complex options in docker.

Less secure in its production practice but this is essentially a temp folder that will only ever have 1-3 files in it prior to them being processed.

  • In a bar instead of online like NORMAL PEOPLE.

All jokes and sarcasm aside, I met my wife in a bar as her and her friend were trying to avoid a guy who seemed to be bothering them. Offered to buy the all a round of drinks and said we are at a table over in the corner if they wanted to join. My future wife and her friend said yeah lets go the guy had a sour look on his face and said no thanks but I will take the beer.

Had a wonderfully late night talking and laughing with her and fell in love shortly after.

  • Good point. Sorry I wasn’t clear. I only meant that they couldn’t branch out and develop other games like they wanted to. Essentially I was making the same point that you are in terms of what they HAD to develop. MS it was Halo, Sony it’s destiny but in either place they did not have the option to make new IP. At least maybe not till now but that looks more like a forced dev.

I agree with your sentiment, though that Sony is pushing them more in house.

  • I would generally agree with this statement but I think in this particular case it may be a bad thing. From what I understood of the article they are taking a portion of the Bungie dev team and spinning off to be a part of the Sony game devs. I have a feeling the manage team being taken out had been a big pushback on that.

Bungie wanted to leave Microsoft because they wanted to do new things and not just Halo. Unfortunately it turned out activation screwed them in terms of their development and mad then cut 70% of the D1 story with less than a year to release.

After all that they are eventually bought by Sony that now does almost the same thing MS was doing to them.

Don’t get me wrong, I am glad it’s more managers and corporate office than devs but I have a bad feeling that this is just the start of a bad turn of events for them.

  • I am going to do a bit of transitive properties here. - Talking about family = family plan to me.

So for both services we are talking 6 devices streaming their own accounts for $20 a month.

At the point in our argument there is no huge difference between the two to be honest. Same price for the same services for Music. They both provide good audio and playlist function. (lossless audio on normal speakers and car speakers doesn’t do much unless we are talking about $$$ cars/home audio and at that point this conversation isn’t happening)

The big difference for me is that we have apple mobile devices. (I tried Android some time ago but didn’t like that each company had their own skin and updates depended on how each company felt at the time. The nexus I had was great and was straight from google no extra crap but even that had a 2-3 year span though so no different than Apple for me at the time)

With Apple one (6 devices for apple music), every family member gets Apple TV+, Apple Music, and Apple arcade. For me this put it over the fence. Kids get more games I don’t have to pay for and we get an extra streaming service I don’t have to pay extra for won it for me.

Essentially extra value won it for me. Not just the music service.
