  • Are you offering?

Assuming I live for another 30years, around $3mil to semi retire and $5mil to fully retire today. At least until I can fully draw from social security (if it still exists) and from 401k/IRAs.

But I don’t plan to retire. I plan to work until I can’t then give my wife and kids everything left. I have no reason to live except to ensure that I have given my family the best life I can within my means, assuming my spending vices don’t get the better of me.

  • I still visit Reddit occasionally for old niche tech support, but that’s about it. Tried Voat but it was dead on arrival.

    Here’s a list -

Lose of RiF was the last straw.

    Inconsistent censorship.

    Mods targeting users.

    Promoted ads disguised content

Hive mind comment bombing and down voting

    Lack of understanding or reason

    Gatekeeping by mods and users

    Spam bots

    Achievements and robot challenges

Reposting/resharing the same memes over and over like it was new content.

Reporting posts didn’t seem to do anything

  • A place to put a switch and wiring harness having a couple extra wires doesn’t mean they put the parts in to make it functional. A standardized console and wiring harness is logical because it’s cheaper, installing heated seats or 4x4 drive tran is not. The vehicle usually doesn’t get part for the options installed until it’s ordered so it doesn’t make sense to make a unique part or wire harness for a small percentage of vehicles. The subscription based model just proves how effective and profitable it is, just a portion of car owners paying for it will make them enough money to justify putting it in every vehicle.

Heated seats probably costs them around a few hundred dollars a seat and if you pay a subscription for the life of the car then they will make tens of thousands back.

  • The thing that’s driving me away from windows is how pushy it’s gotten. Forced updates, ads, AI, OneDrive, and subscriptions. I just want to be able to turn on MY computer and do what I want or need without having my guard up that I can’t trust my home PC with my privacy.

Windows 11 is ok, but is frustrating to use and I can’t trust it not to screw with settings and there seems to be something annoying added instead of something useful with every update. I also hate the Settings menu, it’s like an unhelpful layer between you and Control Panel the eventually will take you to the same place but took 5 more clicks and searching through drop downs for a link to what you needed.

  • No one hates the USA more than US Americans, but we also unite against foreign hostility, it’s like an exclusive club for self haters. So I’m sure the world views us in much the same way. Just from looking around and seeing the Trump flags coming down, it appears a significant portion of his past supporters are realizing that they made a mistake or are at least a little hesitant to proudly display their support.

I would say Trump has a hammer and every problem is a nail, but he’s not sure what a nail is or how to use a hammer so he just goes around hitting things with the wrong side of the hammer. So now everyone else thinks they all of the USA doesn’t know how to use hammers.

  • Yep, I’m sure this video is fine but not clicking the video and click bait with a click bait title.

The News is now 99% blatant click bait or subscription teasers. I think it’s important to educate people on click bait, it seems so obvious to me but I get the impression that a lot of people don’t know the difference. Usually when I do click on click bait is because it’s something that I probably would have clicked on anyway.

When I’m using a News app I have to be strategic in what I click on otherwise I’ll suddenly get inundated with junk or ads disguised as News because I accidentally tapped on something.
