  • This is the answer. Japan has a lot of respect for others (well, for other japanese at least), so these types of machines will last a lot longer; making the payoff more palatable.

Place a vending machine outside in America, and it’ll be vandalized in a week max.

Even in highly walkable cities, you don’t see vending machines. It has nothing to do with cars, it has to do with the culture of the US being one of disrespect most of the time.

  • I think it’s just you. Differential Transformers are pretty good at regurgitating information that’s widely talked about. They fall short when it comes to specific information on niche subjects, but generally that’s only a matter of understanding the jargon needed to plug into a search engine to find what you’re looking for. Paired with uBlock Origin, it’s all typically pretty straight forward, so long as you know which to use in which circumstance.

Almost always, I can plug some error for an OS into a LLM and get specific instructions on how to resolve it.

Additionally if you understand and learn how to use a model that can parse your own set of user-data, it’s easy to feed in documentation to make it subject-specific and get better results.

Honestly, I think the older generation who fail to embrace and learn how to use this tool will be left in the dust, as confused as the pensioners who don’t know how to write an email.

  • Wife refused to watch anime because “of all the weird shit”. Inuyasha broke the ice, Naruto got her a little further, and then I said “Let’s watch this - but I’m going to tell you right now, your first reaction is going to be to recoil and cringe. But I promise - if you give it a chance, you’ll enjoy it”.

And probably ONLY because she loves me so much, she did give it a chance. And WOO boy that helped open the flood gates to sooooo much more. She loved Kill La Kill by the end of it, and ended up being so much more willing to trod through uncomfortable stuff with me. Which, unfortunately, sometimes you have to do when it comes to Anime.

  • Nothing I am saying is even close to the term Newspeak. Newspeak is controlled language, simplified grammar, and limited vocabulary designed to limit a persons ability for critical thinking.

But I’m not limiting your ability to think critically, I’m trying to expand it. Yet, not only are you failing to think more critically here, you’re actively avoiding it by tossing out accusations and making jokes. Likely because you’ve already decided that you’re “right” (whatever the fuck THAT is in this context, since we agree) and that you’re going to fight whatever you’re perceiving as an…attack?

In short - yes, it would informally be a declaration of war - because they don’t call it that now. I’m just pointing out the second half is all.

  • No idea why you’re so combative. We’re largely on the same page here. I’m describing the nuances of the situation, not arguing with you. It’s not war in a technical sense. There are reasons why it’s not considered war, and nobody really wants it to be defined as a “war” either. But is it war? Well, yeah…kinda. Just not in the general sense of the word, and without all of the baggage that comes along with it being a formal “war”.

It’s like asking is the sky blue.

    Unintelligent people say: Yes.

Intelligent people might say: Yes, well - most of the time. Occasionally it can be oranges, reds, etc depending on the angle of incidence of light, cloud cover, etc. And the blue color is more due to Reyleigh Scattering of the incoming full spectrum light rather than the actual sky itself being blue; technically it’s clear.
