Because coding is hard work even with AI assistance, and people who don’t code will judge you the loudest and longest and meanest for using AI to make the work easier. I personally suffer rejection sensitivity dysphoria so I understand the emotions behind their actions.
But yeah, everyone just ignores the years of coding work this person did for nothing just to help people enjoy their games, to crucify them for using AI and then having feelings about getting yelled at by the very beneficiaries of their prior work.
It’s not like they’re stripping out or reimplementing contributions and taking the project closed source, like BookLore. People need some damn perspective.

Control. I’ve always had a fondness for SCP-related stuff so when I saw Control on sale for $3 or $4 it was an instant mindless purchase. Bored a few days later I decided to give it a go, and then I went and beat the entire game and the DLC. Great power fantasy, great lore, great voice acting, fun moment to moment gameplay balanced between exploring, upgrading, story beats, and boss fights. Also ties in to their other games like Alan Wake; I haven’t played that one, but I’ve strongly considered it just because of Control and wanting more of that universe.
From Software patched the original Dark Souls PC port to remove Games For Windows Live when that service shut down, replaced it with steam networking. This was years and years before the remaster, so they weren’t making money on it - they just up and fixed it. MMOs? A bunch of unpaid modders brought up the first WoW custom servers, and some of those were reverse engineered.
