…Still Not Butter
We have a local storefront that’s been closed for years but people (maybe the owner or with permission from since it’s so consistent?) set up multiple chess tables in front of it most days and it’s always wholesome to pass people playing on an otherwise rather depressing city street.
I didn’t mention third parties and will not be casting a vote for president at all as I believe the problem is regime wide. That said, 3rd parties aren’t the problem the problem is democrats promised they would vote democrat no matter what and they took your word for it and decided to ignore public opinion and international law and international courts and basic human decency and now you’re complicit in a genocide just like the german people were.
8 yearold me would not have been able to grasp your position and 30 yearold me can’t either. Guess I’m too soft to compromise on ethnic cleansing.
Well my US public school system spent 75% of history class and 25% of English class on the Holocaust so I’m actually feeling really well prepared for this section, the trick is not to go along with genocide if your country is supporting it
3 of the couples I had in mind when I mentioned traditional dating sites used Match.com (between 2015 and 2022 in their mid 20s to mid 30s) and 1 couple each around the same time period/age demographic on specific religion dating sites (catholic chemistry and christian mingle)
I don’t think Anon is considering the set of all possible cute girlfriends or lending them enough agency. I think it’s somewhat reasonable if you’re app dating to assume that people are doing some amount of maximizing cute + interesting or something similar but I think that’s because the apps encourage people to gamify dating.
Anecdotally I’ve seen a ton of…erm…normatively mismatched couples form and find success in other contexts like dive bars, pick up soccer, chatrooms, kink communities, boardgame cafes, more traditional dating sites etc. Again anecdotally these relationships seem to skew (normatively) in the guy’s favor more often than the gal’s as far as looks and personality go despite the fact that complaints like this come more often from men.
Prolapse usually refers to a medical condition where parts that should be inside you come out and the logo being a circle brings to mind rectal prolapse which isn’t a super pleasant association
Perfection
We need some data on the poor furries who can’t afford cons. Back in high school it was just a matter of sticking a fluffy tail to the back of your pants
re “is it an american thing,” someone else will have to field the rest of your question
Yeah I also read The Power and the author doesn’t have my favorite writing style, but I tend to power through books unless they’re awful. Shortly after I read Spin by Robert Charles Wilson which was phenomenal if you like sci fi and need a good read!
Academia only really rewards novelty, but the scientific method is supposed to be a slow slog towards the truth with lots of redundancy and endless cycles of minor tweaks that in turn force you to tweak theories that connect so that our picture of the world maintains its internal coherence
They’re having military practice nearby me today and my partner and I were just talking about how we both flinch when we hear military planes (small and fast) fly overhead even though neither of us has lived in a war zone.
Indeed, that’s why I said it would probably cause another global financial crisis. I don’t think their governments would collapse just because the US’s did though. Brettin Woods would be dead and would need to be replaced, plus a lot of IMF loans would need to be reformulated
Personally I don’t think a successful coup or similar in the US would destroy other major powers, though it would certainly cause another global financial crisis.
Yes in global collapse it would be useless—more useless than coins or paper which you can melt and burn. I imagine a political collapse limited to the US where I am to be a bit slower to where phone, internet, electricity, water etc. wouldn’t go off immediately, but even if they did I hope I could make it to the border of canada or mexico who will likely have internet. From there I’d be a refugee, but potentially one with a bit of bartering power.
Of course I’m not off the grid? Weird question. I do know how to wire a car battery though
When things are unstable you diversify. Most currency is pegged to the US dollar’s value and, as we’ve seen with recent US recessions, its value impacts the value of state currencies worldwide.
Since we’re mossposting…
