I ran a niche VW community and for a quarter of a year, I singlehandedly posted multiple posts daily. No downvotes, subscribers gained, 50+ up votes on some but practically 0 community engagement or content. Lemmy is too small still to support anything but politics or tech of a certain slant.

I use a greasemonkey script for desktop and the Connect app on my phone to block instances. If I remember correctly, I think someone told me that instance blocking was coming in the .19 update.
Unfortunately all of them break greasemonkey scripts that help with blocking instances, which would keep me from using lemmy at all.
The third of the vid I could see at any one time was very nifty.
On a somewhat related note, it seems Lemmy doesn’t know how to fit a tall video in a browser screen.
I think it will be very easy to find a host that federated from them, making it easy to mitigate the damage.
