I liked Gladiator, I didn’t lurveeeee it. I’m preconditioned now to hate every sequel and remake on spec, just because it’s lazy, and they’re making so many of them, and the quality of 95% are garbage, so just seeing the words Gladiator 2 make me itch, in a bad way. I’m not gonna see this in the theater, I haven’t gone to the movies since before COVID, and until there’s a cure for it (or long covid), it’s not somewhere I’m going to feel comfortable spending any time at all. I’ll wait til it gets released, sail the seas, and check it out then, unless the actual post release reviews say it’s dogshit.

The show is a primer on English nobility, and the English break with Rome, during the reign of Henry VIII, and is so thick, nuanced, and smart, it’s a joy to have just rewatched the first season last week in preparation for Season 2 which just began. Rylance’s Thomas Cromwell is played mostly in his face. Lot’s of face acting in this show.
