  • They are, specifically monarchs of House Targaryen. I sorta hate that I know this.

    Along the line, they are:

    • Aenys I Targaryen

    • Maegor I Targaryen

    • Jaehaerys I Targaryen

    • Viserys I Targaryen¹

    • Aegon II Targaryen¹

    • Rhaenyra Targaryen¹

    • Aegon III Targaryen¹

    • Daeron I Targaryen

    • Baelor I Targaryen

    • Aegon IV Targaryen²

    • Daeron II Targaryen

    • Daemon I Blackfyre³

    • Aerys II Targaryen⁴

¹ Appear in the House of the Dragon TV series

² Skipped past Viserys II for some reason

³ A legitimized bastard of House Targaryen who founded his own house

⁴ The last Targaryen monarch, overthrown prior to the events of Game of Thrones. The timeline skips a bunch more names here as well.

  • I can’t be arsed to keep up with changing the config of the browser I didn’t choose every time the device updates with new admin-defined settings. That’s all.

On my personal device I still use Google right now for consistency/because change is hard, but I set the default behavior in Firefox to exclude AI results.

I’d just prefer to use/support a search engine that abstains from AI entirely, regardless of whether or not you can turn it off. I don’t want to be a happy customer of companies that still try to weasel that stuff in, because they won’t stop at a toggle. They never do.

  • On the other hand, other than the one page shilling a Windows server specifically, there’s nothing else in the content of the story itself indicating that it is specifically a Windows server and not whatever else. Take out that one page and there’s no mention of Windows or Microsoft.

Edit: Nevermind, missed the part on the last page too. Bleh.

  • She may have single-handedly precipitated the slide into fascism in the US.

If she had simply resigned from her position when she began experiencing health issues, it would have allowed her successor to be nominated and approved under a democratic administration.

Instead, she wanted to retain her position of authority as long as possible, and so her greatest legacy to the US became Amy Coney Barret appointed by Trump and the subsequent series of 5-4 votes in favor of furthering his agenda.

  • Oh yeah. Sometimes I entertain those sorts of “what if” scenarios where, if I were to be transported back to some arbitrary historical time and place, what could I do with what I have to kickstart social/scientific progress.

But underneath every single one of these thought experiments is the ultimate anxiety of “pray you don’t get a bad cut or eat some bad food, then die painfully and horribly of infection or illness.”

There are just substantially fewer safeguards, so you’re at greater risk of everything. Even thinking about having to go to a hospital at the time of my grandparents’ childhood terrifies me. It’s crazy how much medicine has improved just over the past few decades, and has me wondering just how barbaric our own practices today might seem to others in the future.
