The remains believed to belong to Andrew Comyn “Sandy” Irvine, who disappeared alongside George Mallory in 1924 while attempting to conquer the world’s highest peak, have likely been found. The discovery was made by a National Geographic team during the filming of a documentary, reigniting discussions about whether the duo managed to reach the summit before their deaths.

Any good?
It has its ups and downs.
I love this meme, though here on Lemmy the up arrow would be blue/purple. I say we redo this meme for Lemmy with blackjack and hookers.
Redo the meme? Like, in GIMP?
I can hear the song through that image
“The Eiger Sanction” has entered the chat…
Irvine, then 22 years old
“Sandy was an exceptional figure and made a significant contribution to our understanding of Everest and the Himalaya.”
I’m of the opinion that the most damning legacy of this young boy was, with his cold grave creating a mythos of gentlemanly exploring and heroism that people till this day take the wrong lesson from.
People should be thinking about the waste of life and potential that brought us this morcel of effigy, however it spawned a throng of rich folk who want to be dragged up this growing altar of human hubris, adorned with tons of waste and sometimes sacrifice themselves on her -once pristine- flanks to become unneeded warnings for their future followers.
It’s disgusting what that mountain has become and this young lad, unfortunately, has contributed nothing to peoples understanding, rather set a questionable example.
‘Sandy’ should have stayed on the sand
