Summary

Former prosecutor and police official Germán Reyes was arrested for the brutal killing of Alejandro Arcos, Chilpancingo’s newly elected mayor, found decapitated in October.

Reyes, a former military officer, was previously blamed for working with a local gang, shocking officials who had attributed the murder to gang violence.

His arrest suggests deep corruption among Guerrero officials and raises doubts about hiring ex-military for police roles.

The gang violence in Chilpancingo, dominated by warring factions like the Ardillos and Tlacos, has led to gruesome public killings, widespread fear, and destabilized governance.

What economy? You mean how we are drowning in more debt than before? Or how investors are leaving or being reluctant due to the last reform shitting on the judicial power? Or the money laundering projects that are still going from the last president? Or how workers are leaving formal jobs to actually make enough money to live? Or how the president had to come out and swear that mass deportations won’t hurt the remittances because those are the only thing keeping people afloat?
